A delightful, ugly little story about a mermaid who does not understand what humans are, or why they can't breathe underwater like she can. I loved how alien she was, how much a predator she was - and I loved how her love of song brought her to meet a young sailor. I got the story by subscribing to Lilith Saintcrow's website newsletter, and for the price of my email address, this was worth it! Brilliant little story from the point of view of a mermaid. Love the description as she ascends for the first time. Exceptional piece of writing describing the alienness of the mer creature, from her thoughts to her bodily functions. Even though the set up seems familiar, as mermaid meets ships, is curious about sailor, a storm occurs and sailor is alone-ish, this still has a very different take on that tired tale. Unfinished. Just a well written beginning of a boring story. Will not buy anymore chapters of this book. Suggest you don't even buy the first. Unfinished. Just a well written beginning of a boring story. Will not buy anymore chapters of this book. Suggest you don't even buy the first.
