This book is about a kid that gets transformed to evil. But then he finds out it was fake. This book was really good untill the end. The ending confused me to no end. I totally did not get the ending, and I think M.D.Spencer should have had everything that that kid did be true. I think that would have made the book better.

What the bloody hell?!?! There is some messed up stuff in this kids book. Suicide, car crashes, bloody faces. Then the worst ending trope ever happens and BLEH

Weird. I was flipping through it so I could rate it, and was rather baffled by the content. The main character is twelve, and the series is probably for that age bracket or lower. The content's rating, however.... it's rather violent. Not gory (except for a scene where a group of students get sick to their stomachs), there are lots of people (who anger the main character) who die in violent, mysterious ways. (view spoiler)[ Not by him, intentionally - at first - but because of some kind of curse Weird. I was flipping through it so I could rate it, and was rather baffled by the content. (hide spoiler)] Everyone becomes scared of him because of this, and he ends up ruling the school. And getting the girl, despite the fact that she (and everyone else in the school) have been treating him like a total outcast.(Every single person in the school treats him like an outcast. It's beyond un-believable.) It comes across very poor-me and self-pitying. Like a revenge fantasy a kid would write, absolutely certain that everyone is against them. I don't find it to be one of the better books in the series. Rating.... I'm going with what (little) I remember thinking of it, and using that, not my current opinion. This was never one of my favourites in the series.

(SPOILERS) As a kid growing up in the 90's i loved Goosebumps, but i never got a chance to read any of the Shiver's books so this was my first of the series and i really enjoyed it for the most part. I was surprised how dark this book was for a children's horror novel and i loved that! i'm not sure if that's how all the Shiver's books are but i hope they are quite dark, a nice contrast to Goosebumps which is more lighthearted overall than this. The story really kept me going, trying to guess what this "curse" actually was but by the time the ending rolls around i was pretty let down! The whole thing was a dream? really? that was such a cop out ending that definitely hurt my rating of this book but apart from the ending the book was really enjoyable. I look forward to collecting and reading more of this series.
