This is a continuation of Laurin and Matt's story and it picks up right after the previous book left off. Still just as steamy as the previous book, with a bit more story, but still not a lot of answers. Onto the third book! Stormy Seduction picks up where Storm Child ended. If you haven’t read that book you should start there, as the relationship building between Laurin and Matt begins in that story. Laurin is a teacher, as well as a powerful air shifter. She is also a Hawáte, which means that she can boost the powers of other shifters. Since mating with Matt, she has been trying to elude other male air shifters, who wish to use her powers to boost their own to strengthen their leadership claims with their clans. Matt is a powerful water shifter and a Shaman. He does not intend to allow any-other shifter to lay claim to Laurin; she is his and his alone. After making his feelings towards Laurin perfectly obvious to her potential suitors, Matt takes her to visit the otter clan, a very friendly and highly sexed group of water shifters. During their visit, Laurin intends to teach the otter children, whereas Matt is there to preside over the fertility ritual as their spiritual guide. Caught up in the sensuality of the ceremony, Laurin and Matt cement their mating and discover that their combined powers have only just begun to grow. I loved the first part of this story and this one didn’t fail to disappoint. The chemistry between Matt and Laurin is sizzling in this instalment. The continuous sex scenes that occur throughout this short story are certainly enough to get your palms a little sweaty, but they are filled with a tenderness that shows how deep the characters feelings for each other are. One thing I like about Vivian Arend's writing is that, although her sex scenes are smoking hot, she doesn’t overuse the euphemisms that can often make such scenes crass. I don’t recall “pussy” being used, “cock” barely features and I don’t think I saw the actual act be referred to as “f**king” at any point. Forgive the blunt terminology, but nothing annoys me more than sex scenes being punctuated with porn-style terminology, or sex scenes being written where the author can’t seem to refer to body parts using the correct terminology, instead deeming flowery euphemisms such as “sheathe” appropriate. Vivian Arend does neither of these and it certainly worked for me! :D One of the most fascinating dynamics of their relationship, to me, was that whenever Laurin was thinking up lusty thoughts, Matt could see them all. That certainly would be an interesting power to have! As Laurin and Matt are the primary characters, theirs are the personalities for which you get a better feel. I found them both to be strong characters, who had no problems denying their attraction was something more than just lust. I can’t wait to see what comes out in the next instalment concerning their powers; I can only hope its explosive! The scenes that stick out the most in my mind are the ones with the Otter clan. They certainly were a horny bunch! Upon entering their ship, both Matt and Laurin are accosted by over familiar Otters trying to lure them into sex. It takes a public declaration to ward them off and, even after all this, a particularly rambunctious Male named James offers himself as a “third” (Pretty please can I see this scene.....please?) When it comes to the fertility ritual...WOW! As Shaman, Matt is expected to attend and “spill seed”. Although his intention is to merely masturbate, Laurin is taking no chances of the ritual getting out of hand, and attends alongside him. She has no idea of what to expect, but when the fertility ritual consists of a lone female being taken by three men at the same time, Laurin and Matt get lost in the moment and end up having sex watching them. The style of writing used by this writer benefitted the visual created by the scene and certainly made the ceremony one of the most erotic things I’ve ever read! This short story is fabulous, but so was the first one. Read them both; they fit together as one story and you won’t get the full impact of the tale without doing so. I enjoyed all the characters and the love story is truly wonderful to watch unfold. Give me a possessive man who is also reasonable enough to know when to step back and I’ll be a very happy reader!

With water shifter Matt and air shifter Laurin alone on a secluded island after a nasty storm they should be looking forward to a lazy day in paradise but Laurin knows they'll have company soon. She has been in hiding for 2 years but now her secret is out it is only a matter of time before they track her down and start making claims. She has been in hiding for 2 years but now her secret is out it is only a matter of time before they track her down and start making claims. Matt is determined to prove that he can protect her and it's a good job he is ready for a fight. Stormy Seduction picks up the story immediately after the ending of Stormchild and I would recommend reading the stories in order or you'll miss out. This series is a trilogy of 3 novellas but I would suggest reading them together and treating it like a full length novel as each one will leave you wanting more. I mentioned in my review of the first novella how much I liked Matt and that hasn't changed. It was nice to see a character who was willing to admit his feelings so quickly, is prepared to protect his partner but doesn't want to force her into anything she is uncomfortable with. He is happy to let her accept their relationship in her own time and is willing to take things slowly if that's what Laurin wants. Matt and Laurin definitely have chemistry and if you're looking for a hot, erotic, paranormal read then this is definitely a series you'll want to check out. When Laurin's next teaching assignment takes her to the otter clan Matt's skills as a shaman are also required for their summer fertility ritual. The otter clan are highly sexed and very uninhibited so as you can imagine the fertility ritual is quite a public display. I will warn you that the story contains a menage scene, voyeurism and exhibitionism but it is very well written and will leave you fanning yourself as you read. Although I would have loved to have seen some of the scenes fleshed out a little more I'm still really enjoying the series and looking forward to reading the final installment.

He will fight to the end to defend Laurin and make her his.. After the problem with Laurin's people , they finally reach the island. There are an otter clans, one of Matt's clan. Not like air-shifter that act polite and modest, water-shifter are more free. There are a fertility feast, and Matt must attend, because his important role as Shaman. Laurin first doesn't want to go there, especially after hear Matt description about the feast. But, finally she give up. And when she go to the feast, it's not like what she expected. With Matt at her side, she enjoy the feast and let her magic and Matt's mixed, and their feeling growing... Much longer than the first book Stormchild. There's development at world building, more conflict, and still steamy.. But there are some point that make me not give it full 4 stars! It's because not like the 1st book that have no conflict, in this book there are 2 separated conflict that seems to be forced in one story and in my opinion, doesn't fit each other. Even it explain some point that left blank at the 1st book.. Not my favorite series by Vivian Arend but still I'm enjoy it :).This series is for you, if you want a steamy short story with paranormal genre.

In the first book Matt finds out that Laurin can boost other shifters powers. Laurin realizes that since she has shifted, after two long years, her people will be there within a few hours. She is concerned about how Matt will handle the situation and doesn’t want anyone hurt in the process, which was why she left home in the first place. The air shifters arrive sooner, rather than later and Matt stands his ground and stakes his “claim” on Laurin. He is determined to protect her, even if it’s from her own people. He knows how he feels about her but doesn’t want to rush her into anything and scare her off. They arrive at the Otter Clan without any issues and Matt immediately lets them know that he and Laurin are a couple. He is unsure how she will react to their flirty ways. Laurin starts to realize how much Matt means to her when he explains his role in the fertility ritual. She is not going to let some lust crazed otter woman put their hands on her man. She agrees to go to the ritual with him so she can protect him. The fertility ritual itself was very hot. It kept flashing between what was going on in front of them to what Matt was doing to Laurin while they watched the ritual take place. Let’s just say the village was very blessed by their offering during the ritual. The book focuses primarily on the main characters and their interactions with each other. They are drawing closer and closer to each other and Laurin realizes that she is meant to be by his side. They don’t know where the relationship will take them; just that being together feels right. Their magic together is also growing stronger every day. Overall I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one to come out in May. I give Stormy Seduction 4½ Flaming Hearts.

This was such a fun, quick read. It immediately jumps into the action with the threat from Laurin’s past. Matt isn’t the typical chest-beating alpha that I usually crush on in books but there is something incredibly sexy about his quiet confidence. I saw glimpses of it in the first book, Stormchild, and it’s even more evident here. After the smack-down of the baddies (or kind of baddies) Matt and Laurin visit the Otter Clan. They were so entertaining! They are such an open and accepting society. This was such a fun, quick read. It immediately jumps into the action with the threat from Laurin’s past. I really hope we get to re-visit them in future books. Stormy Seduction is about more than fighting and fun, though. This one gets the “muy caliente” rating on the heat scale. Smokin’ hot! Beach sex, cabin sex, group sex (not involving the hero and heroine), public sex (involving the hero and heroine). It has it all. But I think the thing I enjoyed most was Ms. Arend’s ability to turn a few simple sentence into something powerful and bring a story back to what it is at it’s heart. A romance. "His lips touched her temple. Tender. Warm. “Let me get you home.” She let him take her by the hand and lead her back to their cabin, and all the time that word spun in her brain. Home. It was becoming clearer that meant less a physical location and more wherever Matt happened to be." My only warning for Stormy Seduction is that you really need to read Stormchild first. I’m not a series purist and I constantly bounce around on reading order but that won’t work with this book. Stormchild has the backstory needed to fully connect with Laurin and Matt.

Stormy Seduction picks up right after the events in book 1. Like, morning after after. Heck, Laurin and Matt barely have time to get in some hot morning nooky before the air shifters show up to challenge Matt. I mentioned in my review for book 1 that I loved the idea of Matt and Laurin traveling to the different clans and getting a taste of their traditions. I actually don't think I said that in so many words, but that's what I was going for. Anyway. Here we get the Otter Clan and they're a little on the touchy-feely side. They like their sex play and they aren't afraid to let Laurin and Matt know it. The solstice celebration is incredibly hot and celebrates everything lush and sensual about their people. Laurin might have some reservations about the very public aspects of this rite but she can't help but be captivated by the way these people embrace this side of themselves. Very sexy (rawr!), this is a nice look at how two people who are dealing with a sudden mystical bond (insta-attraction, ftw!) begin to work together in a relationship. The second one I gave up on midway thru the book as it got bogged down with 1 clan of shapeshifters going on and on and on regarding their customs. I thought that all this could have been cleared up in the front of the story but it was not. Boring... Now I have liked her series of the "Granite Lake Wolves" which also a shapeshifter one. I am cross posting this same review for both books as the apply to each one.

The second installment for the series met all my hopes. The book picks up right where the last left off which was a little strange but quickly became a great jumping off point. There were some scenes I’d have loved to see fleshed out more, but as it is just a short story in a continuing saga I understand that. The is the second novella in Vivian Arend's Pacific Passions series (which really should have been published as one full length novel!). It continues the story of Matt and Laurin and they become more comfortable with their relationship and the magical power it unleashes. They visit the highly sensual otter clan and all kinds of hot sex scenes ensue. I found the flow much better in the second book and encourage anyone struggling with the first one to stick it out for the entire series, because th The is the second novella in Vivian Arend's Pacific Passions series (which really should have been published as one full length novel!). It continues the story of Matt and Laurin and they become more comfortable with their relationship and the magical power it unleashes. They visit the highly sensual otter clan and all kinds of hot sex scenes ensue. I found the flow much better in the second book and encourage anyone struggling with the first one to stick it out for the entire series, because the payoff is definitely worth it!

When starting a new relationship it’s never fun to have to already fight for her love. And I do mean fight. Now that the People of the Air have found Laruin there are several men who want to prove they should be her man. Matt is spending his time trying to show her that he loves her without scaring her off. Once that is over the Otter Clan tests her sexual limits. This is a fun one filled with lots of hot sex and some multi partner action. That Otter Clan sure sounds like a lot of fun!

Huh? This must have been an early work of Vivian Arend. Because for the most part I like her cowboys and her shifters. But this was off in every respect. Characters, storyline, motivations, setting... everything was very sparse and therefore difficult to invest in with any enthusiasm.

Another too short book. So just 3.5 stars.

While I like other work by Vivian Arend, this series isn't for me. While I like other work by Vivian Arend, this series isn't for me.
