Imaginative and so good. Once I started this, I could not put it down. What a fun read. This was such a good book, that I’m glad I went out of my comfort zone to try it out.

Elves, angels, demons, ogres, love, magic, anything you can think of: this book has it. It's classic fantasy with a lot of world-building and tying past to present. The characters are interesting and well-rounded and I am very excited to read more from Kendra Lawrence. Thank you to the author and Booktasters for the opportunity to read this book! Thank you to author, Kendra Lawrence for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. Also, thank you to Booktasters for keeping me on track. This is a higher fantasy than I normally read, which is a pity because author, Kendra Lawrence has put an immense amount of effort into creating a unique and interesting world. My few reservations are that I struggled to care about the characters until near the end. While many classic fantasy stories have multiple protagonists, I’m not sure it works here. I’d have preferred a clear protagonist to be identified early on. Also, the introductions seemed rushed and I’d have loved these beautifully complex characters to be more three-dimensional on meeting them. There’s a large amount of telling vs showing that choked a potentially brilliant image. That said, the author demonstrates a great command of the English language and a definite story-telling talent. In the end, I enjoyed the story very much.

A big explosion in a small packet. The line aptly describes the book. The book holds so much of promise that once you start reading you find yourself lost in the world weaved so intricately by the author. Plethora of characters but each has a depth that breaks the monotony and makes them interesting. Also there is no less of creatures from the fantasy world. Name it and it was there in the book from angels, demons, elves etc. Overall it was a good book and definitely a cup of your tea if you like re A big explosion in a small packet. I barely put this book down, and immediately bought the second when I finished because I was so enveloped in the world Lawrence built. The characters in each of the parallel storylines are full personalities, with growth and struggles, and even though it's set up as "good" vs. "evil", there is a spectrum explored in the story and within the characters. A major theme is characters struggling against expectations placed on them because of their race. Characters have a variety of gender, sexual, romantic, and relationship orientations (note: I don't think there is any f/f rep, and don't remember explicitly trans characters, though there are genderless characters) I would love to see a map to refer to, though I also enjoy getting to design the structure in my head as a reader, and understand the difficulties involved in mapping multi-dimensional, heavenly realms. Every time the book focuses on a new character, I find myself excited to see what was happening in their life. Lawrence balances focus well, giving the reader just enough action in one area of the story before panning to another region.

This book has a very classic fantasy feel to it and it appealed to me for that reason. Anyone that enjoys classic fantasy or anything with angels and elves will love this! I especially loved the story of Artemis, and found it--and I meant to put IT because it has no gender!--to be one of the most original and lovable characters in the story. Even though I do say it has a classic fantasy feel, the angels in particular are handled in a very original way that I've never seen/read about before and I really love it. They have a very complex system of governing over their Realms and how they interact with mortals, and I found it very intriguing and refreshing. I want to learn more about the Hells as well and I hope more of that comes up in the next book!! I WANT MORE.

If you like fantasy, you'll love this page turning book. There were many polts with well-defined characters that made this book an easy read. There were no dull moments and I couldn't wait to see what twist and turn were coming next. I would recommend this book to everyone. The characters come to life and draw you into their worlds. Not my usual type of fantasy book, but I must say, I really enjoyed it. Super characters, superb characterisation and great pace throughout. Highly recommended.

I was super excited to read this book, as I'm getting into fantasy books. From the moment I started reading the characters were interesting and the details were amazing and beautifully written. As I got further on, I became frustrated with each chapter introducing another character, when I was just starting to enjoy the last set. Maybe this just isn't my type of book, but I felt there were too many characters to juggle in this world. I wished there was more of a focused main character, instead of a bunch of supporting character all working together for an end goal. I could tell from the writing that the characters would all end up in the same place eventually, but with the amount of time spent introducing each supporting characters, I found myself lost and confused about who to care about. I did enjoy the writing, which is why I'm giving this four stars. Kendra did an amazing job world building and she deserves the credit for that; however, I personally wasn't hooked.

This is a really great fantasy book. Creatively, it's a masterpiece I loved the inclusion of the different races, it felt like this anime show that I love and that made it hard to put down for me. The phrasing is awkward in some cases it made it a bit hard to read for me and there were some errors but as long as you're willing to look past that there's an extraordinary storyline with amazing characters waiting for you. Like I said before it was a creative masterpiece! This is a really great fantasy book. 4.5 Stars. Aside from some rough segues, this is a well thought out and written fantasy that seems to pull from so many cultural sources - Dante, Neverending Story, LOTR, and others. I love action/adventure, admire strong female roles, and am intrigued by the introduction of a neuter individual who prefers to be “it” rather than forced into a he/she label. Looking forward to the next volume.

The book wasn't what I expected. It was fascinating nonetheless. The characters personality that helps draw readers in. I enjoy the idea of different worlds and the views of some of the characters. I think it's a unique take on the genre and I enjoyed reading it immensely. The book wasn't what I expected.
