Esteban helps Naomi prepare her birthday party and the harbour girl really starts to like being fancy. If you can't defeat them, join them: Esteban isn't thrilled about him having to organize a party for Naomi (out of all people) but he can't let anyone get the idea that the Avalorean royals can't organize a proper party (and he does it for Elena, 'cause familia, nuff said). He is such a pedant and glory hound that he gets over all his antipathies towards Naomi and insists that everything has to Esteban helps Naomi prepare her birthday party and the harbour girl really starts to like being fancy. He is such a pedant and glory hound that he gets over all his antipathies towards Naomi and insists that everything has to be big, shiny, perfect... etc., etc. Some of his "charm" rubs on the ordinary girl and she begins acting like a spoiled diva. Fortunately at the end she's brought back to normal after she sees that she has unwittingly hurt her friends. Of course it started with the chancellor ranting about the idea but soon he changed his mind, he did get to utter a deadpan comment in the process though. Seeing Esteban teach Naomi to dance and COMPLIMENTING HER! Telling her that she's going to be a bright light of the ball was sweet. + if your kid is into Elena, buy it without regrets, even adults will find themselves laughing over this one :D + we get to see how Naomi's mom looks like. :)

The pictures in this book were pretty good but the story could have used some work. It was similar to the episode it was based on but it left out some important parts and wasn't nearly as good. Also some of the pictures didn't really go with the story which was annoying. Overall this book was ok but it definitely could have been better. This was a good book. I enjoy Elena and the morals that come across through the show/ books. This one was about receiving something special from your friends and remembering what is important- your friends and family that make it special- versus all of the material things that can seem more important.

Great lesson about Friendship! A very sweet little book about friendship and what it means to be a true friend. It teaches kids to always stay true to themselves and their friends above everything else!
