I have finally finished after nearly 16 months, but it was worth the effort as Conrad is one of the best.

While I was familiar with Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' I'd never read it. I read through that quickly and realized what a really gifted writer Conrad was. From well developed themes to descriptive language that truly painted pictures for me, I found myself feeling like I was there. The settings are exotic and the time frame is late 19th century. I've only read about 25% of the collection. I have about 75 hours of material left to read. I have not read all the works in this collection, but so far the quality of the edition seems fine--a few typos here and there, but no major issues with the text or readability. There are separate ToCs for each novel, as well as the main ToC for the volume, making it easy to find your way around on a Kindle. Conrad has an extensive vocabulary and on occasion likes to go for a lesser-known word. Most of them, though, can be easily accessed through the dictionary on the Kindle. The novels speak for themselves. Conrad is an author much admired by other writers. While his style may seem a bit antiquated now, there is no denying his powers of characterization and description.
