Mark Bradley’s reappearance in my life made me want to be a better man. It had been more than two decades since we’d last seen each other and neither of us resembled the kids we used to be. Our lives went in completely different directions and I never thought I’d see him again, let alone hire him as the head of my security team. The attraction and chemistry between us was immediate and intense, but Mark had built walls around him that I wasn’t able to penetrate. It wasn’t in my nature to accept that I would never have the person I wanted most in life, so I pushed. Mistrust and missteps nearly ruined us before we even had a chance to begin. Then there was the little problem of someone wanting me dead. Mark “Deacon” Bradley… Accepting a job working for Mitchell Heston was probably one of the biggest mistakes I’d ever made, but then why did it feel so right? We had nothing in common except a past that neither of us could change. What did I have to offer someone of Mitch’s caliber? He was a wealthy playboy and I was a battle hardened soldier with demons that threatened to ruin any chance of happiness for me. That didn’t stop me from wanting him, regardless of the consequences. None of my doubts mattered once Mitch’s life was in danger. My sole focus became keeping him safe so that we could explore the feelings that were growing between us. To do that, I would sacrifice anything and protect him by any means necessary. Any Means Necessary is book 7 in the Fated Hearts series and can be read alone or as part of the series. This book contains sexually explicit material and is intended for adults 18 and older.

Mark is having some problems of his own, and also considering a job change, but has now moved on to become Mitch's protector for now, and it's not always a pleasant job. Once the threats begin, things get serious quickly. These two men are totally hot, intense, and mind-blowing in their sizzling sex. Wow ! I loved when Mitch grabbed Mark's dog tags and pulled him ... ! Mark's Marine buddies are brought in to help protect the men after Mitch's dad is shot. Lots of action, a fire, bulletproof vests, glocks, fear, questions without answers, and deeply amazing characters in the whole cast. The love between the men progresses, magnificent sexy times, and wooing, plus their long talks and declarations, all make this a wonderful romance. You can't go wrong in this stand alone story, if you like bodyguards, action, romance and a happy ending. ENJOY !! =================

This book had all the potential to be a great love story. Two boys in love, separated by circumstances, meet again as adults. Awesome, right? Not quite so... The writing was not particularly atrocious (although there were many editing errors) and the sexy times were plenty (including shower sex). Notwithstanding that, Mitch's assholish attitude (sleeping with escorts so Mark had to hear him in the other room) was childish and completely idiotic. Then there was the whole plot based on Mitch's murder threats. If they wanted to kill Mitch, what was the point of the threats and warnings? It's not as if they wanted something in exchange of his life... They just wanted him gone, so why warn him? That didn't make any sense. Yeah, I know, there wouldn't be a story without that. Also, the whole plot turned a little too much Mission Impossible at one point and rather unbelievable. In my humble opinion, the book extended more than it should have. The secondary love story didn't have any added value. It would have been much better if the author threw some clues about it, and left Dom and Ham's story for another book instead of cramping it on a few chapters of Mitch and Mark's story. I'm sorry to say this one goes to my mehh shelf and another one bites the dust. The price was right with Kindle Unlimited.

I really wanted to like this - the plot was there, the hot guys, the great friends and the balanced levels of angst and drama ...... But something just didn't work - I am not sure why, but it felt almost clinical, limited in flow ? I really hope others can enjoy it more... I really struggled to feel emotionally connected to the two MCs in this one which is a surprise. Usually I find that the books in this series can often feel far too sweet for my tastes as well as having MCs which overly verbalise emotions in a way that feels completely unrealistic. We still have these traits in this book but I was just not able to warm up to the main characters. We still have these traits in this book but I was just not able to warm up to the main characters. I wasn't keen on Mitch from the beginning and as soon as he then started sleeping with 3x escorts per week in front of Mark purely for 'revenge' I was completely done with him for the rest of the book. Never mind that he was enacting 'revenge' towards Mark for: 1. Refusing to have sex with him 2. Having sex with another guy after they had broken up as kids and when Mark was a bloody teenager!!! Also don't forget that this 'revenge' involves Mitch having sex with sex workers (which is completely ethically and morally disgusting!) whilst knowing that Mark has to sit in the next room listening to it going on. Oh and to finalise Mitch's characterisation as a disgusting arsehole he also makes sure that the first escort he has sex with looks like a younger version of Mark and introduces them to each other before going off for multiple rounds of sex. Later in the story all of this is completely brushed over with a few pathetic apologies and a bit of 'but you did this this so that makes it ok' bullshit. I really hate how there seems to be a trope in romance novels where sex work is glamorised and perceived to be a norm in society. There are massive issues with people being coerced into this 'industry' due to them feeling like they have no other choice in life, or have been human-trafficked into sexual service. I hate that this is yet another book which makes out that the nameless guys who are purchased by Mitch (because heaven forbid he can just have a wank!) are all having a great time so it's all fine. No it's not fine and this book is yet another to add to this perception of what boils down to a very exploitative section of society. Anyway, once this part is massively glossed over the book then turns into a typical 'need to find out who the killer is' storyline with all the associated twists and turns. This part of the story I enjoyed much more, but without liking either Mitch or Mark I ended up not very invested in the story.

Any Means Necessary is book 7 in Aimee Nicole Walker’s the Fated Hearts Series. Each book I have loved some more than others. I’ve reveled in the connections, characters, plot, and emotion. In this one we actually only get a glimpse of two characters from the past; Xavier and Ben. That means, yes, Deacon is getting his story. Mark “Deacon” Bradley, remember him from Xavier’s book (Rhythm of Us book 2) yeah I know it feels like forever ago. Deacon poked at our brains and Aimee has written his story. When we saw him he was mysterious, protective, a little scary lol. Well, he’s still all those things but it takes a boy from his past who is now the man of his dreams to fix all his broken, to unravel all his mystery. Mitchell Heston… Yeah he sounds familiar too, huh? Well not only is he the other MC in this book but Deacon and Mitch go way back. Back to a time where Deacon was Mark. And that is exactly what Mitchell calls him. As little of a thing as it sounds it’s really huge. Deacon is an ex-marine and Deacon was his name, his crew even still call him that. Sometimes men and women in the military lose themselves; which in a way was something I think Deacon was trying to do for a long time. Mitch calling him Mark reminds him of who he really is. Mitch and Mark met in Foster care. Mark was so damaged and Mitch was so lost. Now fast forward, they haven’t changed they just hide it a lot better. I loved the romance. I always do in these books by Aimee. She weaves and balances it all perfectly. From the beginning with Mitch and Mark’s cat and mouse game of angering each other and jealousy. To a somewhat calm, a little bit of yo-yo playing, and then of course the suspense of trying to keep everyone alive from a mad loon! Through the action and adventure. Through the suspense and near misses, there’s a love story. Mark uncovering his dark past, Mitch making amends with a lot and allowing himself to be who he really is. Sometimes when a series has ran for a while it starts to stagnate. But not in this case. Each book in the Fates Hearts series is wonderful, fresh and new. We get to visit with old favorites and make new ones. This is a thriving series I hope to read many more. I always look forward to what Aimee will do next!

Now it's almost two decades later when their paths cross again and they realise each man has never been able to forget the other one or move on from that first love. As with some of the other books in this series, there's a slightly 'out of it' plot comprising death threats, insane business feuds dating back decades, insane family! and hot alpha men doing their manliness thing. But, little annoying proofing mistakes aside, it's generally well written, the sex scenes are hot but emotional, there's good world building and a final conclusion which wraps it all up with a satisfying happy ever after. Having said all of the above, while reading a review of a previous book in this series, someone mentioned this author always ends her books with marriage and the prospect of kids and I've now realised that is indeed the case. Now, while I can see that for some people, and especially for gay couples who were denied it for so long and still are in many places, marriage would be the ultimate happy ending, not everyone feels the same. It would be nice to have one of these stories end just with the knowledge the guys would be together forever without needing the ring and a piece of paper. It's a small thing and doesn't detract from the enjoyment overall but just an observation this book made stand out for me even more. And the cover art goes a long long way to making up for all of the above ;)

WOW !! Mitchell and Mark/deacon's story is, as i knew it would be, absolutely AMAZING !!! It was great learning their history with each other, how they met and what each of them went through. Yet again this was brilliantly written by Aimee, and i loved all the characters involved, well the good/nice ones anyway ! I do admit though to kind of guessing who was behind everything pretty early on, not because of anything more than the fact that my mind is ALWAYS trying to figure where a story is going. I did love the fact that even though i'd figured it out a few twists had me wondering if i was wrong...... Absolutely LOVED IT !!

Once hired they spend a year hating and loving each other secretly, but there lies the problem for me again, we don't see that year at all. I think I would have felt way more connected to them had I experienced that burn that they just talk about in past tense. The pros though is that the book has action, the sexy times are good, and there is relatively low angst and once they get together they stay together of course with troubles especially since someone is trying to kill Mitch. It was completely adequate but there have been better books in this series.

A lot of people seemed to think Mitch was completely out of order. I am not of the same mind and I actually preferred Mitch, sure he did a shitty thing by flaunting the escorts in Deacons face, which he was out of order for and I really hated him when he made sure Deacon was stationed outside to listen. But he realised this and did eventually apologise, and if I am honest a lot of things lead to this, Deacon did not exactly behave like a good guy. I know it was in the past, but after they are separated as teens, Mitch is heartbroken so decides to make the journey back to see Deacon. When he finds Devon in their special place he is having sex with someone else. Mitch takes this as a sign that Deacon does not care about him and has moved on. I get it they were not together and everyone deals with pain differently. But Mitch is more my brand of loyalty if I am honest. We can see that Deacon does care about Mitch, and that he is just trying to block out the pain. But really having sex with someone else In Their special place? Come on dude. So in the present Mitch already has this pain in his head, then Deacon does constantly turn him down. Then, when Mitch helps Deacon in a legal situation, Deacon accuses him of basically harassing him and trying to buy him? He does later apologise but the damage is done. So to me in the scheme of things Mitch reacts to Deacon basically telling him to get lost by lashing out. This is after a period where he basically holds off with other people hoping Deacon will give him a chance. Do not get me wrong the constant escorts to his office was seedy as hell to me. But I got Mitch more, he was constantly burned by Deacon so he reacts. Also, we have to see that Deacon had romantic, deep feelings for Xander, which also was not fun for Mitch to witness. To me it was always Deacon moving on and basically hurting Mitch. It always seemed like Mitch cared a bit more for Deacon, and I do not like that in my stories, I like equal emotions. So this one was just slightly lacking for me.

My least favourite of this series unfortunately. I just didn't get the connection I did with the other couples. They had such a sweet history together as kids but I didn't feel it continue into adulthood. So many moments where the miscommunication was just frustrating. Had to roll my eyes and keep going. I like the mix of danger and romance in this novel. I've read it in M/F romances, but not in gay ones. Different emphasis on the solving the mystery, well written, a bit long. Mark and Mitch are both men who suffered as teens and were in foster care together. Mitch is claimed by his father, and they don't see each other until 20 years later. Mitch hires Mark, who was a Marine, as his bodyguard. At first, their hurt and anger damage their work and friendship, but they talk and move past that. It was heart wrenching when Mark was hurt and thought he might die, and only wanted to think of Mitch. Of course, the mystery of the threat to Mitch's life was easy to conclude, but I thought it would be one character or the other, not both. Good book, I'll check out the series.

Good read with HEA I enjoyed Mark and Mitch's story. Mitch was a lot different to his character portrayed in book1, for the better. Interesting plotline, good twists and turns with the stalker - nice whodunnit to work out, if you like to problem solve. Mark and Mitch romance, moved quickly once they decided to go for it. Jealousy is always a good motivator, although not sure I would have Mark's patience to sit and listen three times a week whilst my crush gets his escort service treatment. Loved this book and series This book was good from start to finish. Great plot twist as the MCs got a second chance to find happiness. Mitch and Mark had to get through a lot of misunderstandings and a threat to Mitch’s life to find HEA. I don’t want to spoil it so I will leave it at that!
