Morgana Best – “No Time to Witch” (The Kitchen Witch mystery series) In a historical mystery prequel to the novel MISS SPELLED, Thelma Spelled must discover the mystery around a murder that entangles her and her husband. The paranormal tale reveals more about the magic of the house and early 20th century Australia. Karen Cantwell – “It Takes a Ghost” (tie-in to the Sophie Rhodes mystery series) New detective Brenna Sage can’t solve a series of robberies—until she gains a partner in the guise of Marmaduke Dodsworth. Carolyn Haines – “Clacking Bones” (Sarah Booth Delaney series) When Jitty’s husband, Coker, goes missing from the Great Beyond, Sarah Booth Delaney, Tinkie, and all the animals sign on to find out why the spirit is AWOL. But if she fails, the expression “someone’s got her goat” takes on a whole new meaning. And when she discovers a thievery ring, illegal auctions, and green-eyed emotions after spotting Luke where he’s not expected—it’s another hilarious day in Halo, Georgia. Connie Shelton – “Spellbound Sweets” (Samantha Sweets Magical Cozy Mysteries) It’s Halloween, one of the busiest times of the year for Samantha Sweet and the crew at her pastry shop, Sweet’s Sweets. The gang looks forward to a gala costume party at the neighborhood bookstore, but the evening takes a different turn when a guest is murdered, a rare book vanishes, and Sam finds herself in the midst of another mystery. Maria Grazia Swan – “Weeping Moon” (Lella York Mysteries series) Lella York has a way of getting herself into trouble, even when she’s doing volunteer work. Who's the mysterious storyteller, and what's going on at the senior living center? Will Lella find out before it’s too late? LynDee Walker – “Frightening Features” (Nichelle Clarke Mystery series) Not a patient recovery patient, while Nichelle Clarke waits for an injury to heal all she really wants is a story to write and research—hard news to get her mind occupied. Instead, her boss gives her a fluff piece. Not her idea of fun. But with Nichelle snooping around, it’s not surprising her soft story takes a decidedly hard turn.

Midnight Mysteries includes nine great stories by nine amazing authors. I naturally turned to Ritter Ames first, I do love Kate, Meg and the Organized mysteries series, but after that it didn't matter which way I turned; each story was delightful or enthralling! Ritter Ames, Carolyn Haines, Maria Grazia Swan, Larissa Reinhold, and Connie Shelton are amazing authors that I already follow, and I discovered a couple of authors who will probably be on my must read list from now on. Midnight Mysteries is a compilation of cozy mystery novellas penned by nine renowned cozy mystery authors. Each novella in this book is related to the authors respective, published cozy mystery series or one of the lead characters from a specific series. Each author provides adequate dialogue so readers don’t feel lost, rather they can easily embrace the series and characters. I couldn’t wait to see what several of my favorite authors offered! Each author provides adequate dialogue so readers don’t feel lost, rather they can easily embrace the series and characters. I couldn’t wait to see what several of my favorite authors offered! Organized for Masked Motives by Ritter Ames tops my list of favorites. Kate McKenzie and Meg Berman find themselves preparing for Halloween as they attempt to maintain “order” between their kids, husbands, activities of daily living, Halloween costumes and parties. Be prepared to laugh out loud as you learn about their costume selections. Connie Shelton’s Spellbound Sweets novella is delightful. Just reading about Samantha Sweet and friends at her pastry shop will leave you drooling in anticipation of delicious treats. Join the Halloween party at a bookstore where someone dies and a rare book is now missing. This makes me crave another book in this series. Larissa Reinhart’s novella is complete with superheroes! Add in a well scripted mystery and it is perfect for young adult readers on Halloween night. Karen Cantwell is a “new to me” author. She has written the most humorous cozy mystery of the grouping. Marmaduke Dodsworth is the most lovable British ghost and I’d love to read more of his tales! Carolyn Haines, Clacking Bones, novella is a Sarah Booth Delaney ghost story which compliments her successful series. Morgana Best delivered a prequel to her Miss Spelled series which I’d describe as a paranormal time travel category mystery on the “scary” side of cozy mystery. This is a book you can read all in one sitting or one story at a time as each novella is a complete story. The anthology is superbly compiled, an easy read and perfect to help readers get into the Spirit of Halloween. This collection is really a must-read for lovers of cozy mystery. It provides the opportunity to learn some new author or read a new adventure of some character who already know and love. Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. "I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review" Do you have plans for Halloween? Ritter Ames, oh yes, she made a true statement of the famous sentence: "there's no smoke without fire". Even if this means that the zombie cats exist! Morgana Best historical ghost story will make you be more scared than ever of witches. I have to say I am not a true believer of the great beyond, but her book made me frighten of it! Karen Cantwell has written the most hilarious story of the book, I want to read more Marmaduke cases, I am sure they will be too hilarious! Carolyn Haines makes us remember that Halloween is the moment that ghosts can come to life... Do you have a curse on your family? Eleanor Cawood Jones wrote a story of murder and love at Halloween's night... Would you hide a murderer for love? Larissa Reinhart story is my favourite, full of mystery and superheroes! What more do we need at Halloween's night? Connie Shelton had created a book full of mystery, perfect from the first page! Don't you think there's always some mystery in the bookshops? Maria Grazia Swan wrote a curious mystery, but so short! I will have to search for more Lella books! LynDee Walker story has reminiscence of the famous cartoon Scooby Doo, where the ghost is always created by a human person! Who will be the murderer? This book will banish in a few days, so if you love Halloween and mystery, buy it now before it disappears! What scares you most; zombie cats, ghosts or superheroes?

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. While their were many authors I hadn't read, many of them I have. You don't have to be familiar with the series in order to read these short stories. All are a ball full of fun, and mystery. I received a copy of this box set in exchange for an honest review. I think this is the first Halloween group of stories I’ve read in a while – at least all in one download – and I have to say it was fun! I have two more stories to read however I can tell you that so far? The stories are easy to read, make you think, make you laugh, and as I said before, much fun. I’d like to highlight a couple that really stood out for me. I love Ms. Ames work so this was the first story I read from the group. Kate McKenzie and Meg Berman are at it again (no worries; these are standalone but are SO much more enjoyable for me as I know the characters). This time, it’s Halloween and they are wrangling their kids, and their husbands, with day to day life and Halloween costumes and parties. Throw in a good mystery and I’m happy! The costume related dialogue is a hoot, for the kids AND the adults so be prepared to smile. Also, Spellbound Sweets by Connie Shelton was fun – although I think I gained weight reading about Samantha Sweet and the “crew” at her pastry shop. It is one of a few Samantha Sweet Magical Cozy Mysteries I’ve read and I’ll find previous stories to catch up. No Time to Witch, It Takes a Ghost, Frightening Features, The Vigilante Vignette, Clacking Bones…I enjoyed them all. I’ll be sure to get to the last two stories (Salad Days, Halloween Nights and Weeping Moon) tonight. Recommended cozy mystery reading for your Halloween enjoyment!

[ I received this book in exchange for an honest review. In no way did it influence my ideas] I am really beginning to LOVE short mystery anthologies! Each of the 9 stories of this book are focused stories about the characters we may already know. If not, there is enough "backstory" to "catch you up." And most of these authors are well known to the "cozy crowd". However, there are new-to-me authors in this series as well: Morgana Best's Thelma Spelled, Connie Shelton's Samantha Sweet, Karen Cantwell's Sophia Rhodes, and Eleanor Cawood Jones spin on celebrity chef Jackson Bell. The nice thing about the book (other than it's fantastic price of 99 cents!!!) Was lots of familiar characters, and lots of approaches to the fall holiday season. Each well written story was a treat, and with this format you could read just a little while and complete a story. Perfect for when waiting in the car for children to finish their activities. The bonus that all the authors were excellent storytellers should make everyone want to buy this set of Midnight Mysteries!

Really enjoyed this book. I love anthologies, especially ones that include my favorite authors. Already a fan of LynDee Walker, and now I have had to add Maria Grazia Swan and Larissa Reinhart to my Amazon Wish List. ZZZZZZZZZ Have last story to read so going to review without since I love the Haines series. I gave this collection a 2 because it was free. The stories were not scary, spooky or eerie . The writings for the most part were sophomoric at best, with writing like a ninth grader just passing English and unbelievable or downright unlikable characters. Not bad people, just boring and /or boorish. The first five I read to their ends, the next three I just gave up; waiting to read the last because, well, ZZZZZZZZZ Have last story to read so going to review without since I love the Haines series. I received a copy of this manuscript from one of the authors in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is a great collection of stories sure get you in the Halloween frame of mind. There's something here for a variety of tastes and genres - though all still mysteries, of course. Most of the authors involved in this anthology were new reads to me but I'd read a couple of the authors before, Maria Grazia Swan and Ritter Ames, and it was so good to spend time with Lella, Kate and Meg again. Mystery Tales I have to say I was abit disappointed by this book of short stories. A few were good but the vast majority were mystery stories that happened to take place at Halloween. No e of them were the least bit scary and some unfortunately weren't even very well written. I'd skip this collection & sticks with authors you know. If you are still looking for a Halloween treat try Midnight Mysteries! There you will find cozy mysteries of many flavors. I read it because I follow Larissa Reinhart, but found several other new to me authors that I would like to read more of. Get it right away-it might not be around long!
