After my bestie couldn't stop messaging me about the adorbs part of this book, she had me hooked and I also wanted to read about weird things on an alien planet.... its been a long stretch since I have read a new MF book (I have done a few reread's this year). Wendy is so excited to be recruited from the Space Core to test-fly this space ship they wanted to see if it could be done. It's new and improved in fact this day long test run could lead to me having a ship of my own soon. Well I was hoping but now maybe not. I mean do you you think they blame me for crashing on an unknown planet that just appeared out of nowhere. Venturi is from the planet "Crashlander" (lol fitting name that's for sure) Many aliens live and survive on this planet but no one new have come in over two generations. Then he spotted a two bubble headed monster who took one head off. I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.

Thrilling start to what promises to be an incredible series!! Wendy is test-flying the first faster-than-light spaceship when things go very wrong. She was raised on a space station so flying in atmosphere was not one of her experiences. Crash-landing on a planet took everything she had to make it survivable. Their flight was supposed to be part of a day – so nobody packed, and the ship only has a first aid kit. From history-maker to castaway on an alien planet in a heartbeat. Good Beginning.. I think this could be a very good book when you have all the story together. Born in space, now on a spaceship, crash landing on a alien planet to find not only hungry animals but also aliens. What would you do?

Seriously what was this crap I just lost 45 minutes of my life reading. If it was to set a story for future books it failed. None of the characters enthralled me enough to find out what happens with them in future books. Writing was choppy and not cohesive or coherent.

Title: Venturi Part One Series: Crashlander Designation: Part One of Serial, NOT a Standalone, Cliffhanger Ahead Author: Annie Nicholas Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: Five Delightful Stars....so far***** Absolutely delightful...so far! I adore science fiction, totally smitten with sexy aliens, and completely addicted to romance, but up the ante with a little action and adventure, and I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Annie Nicholas has done, and done it well. Of course, that shouldn't surprise me at all since I'm a huge Annie Nicholas fan and have been for several years, or more specifically since her Angler Series which was AMAZEBALLS, and if this first installment of Venturi is any indication, it looks like Nicholas has yet another hit on her hands! And yes, I said installment so be forewarned, this is not a standalone story. This is a serial with multiple releases and cliffhangers. I have no idea how many there will be but in the blurb, Nicholas states the complete serial will be available as a box set in October. From what I've read in the first installment, Venturi is an exciting, well-crafted, fast-paced, easy to follow science fiction saga with a generous amount of danger, drama, action, adventure, humor, and romance. I can't even begin to imagine anything written by Annie Nicholas that doesn't contain humor and romance; it's just a given. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well executed and flows effortlessly. But my favorite component of this story is the fascinating and totally engaging cast of characters. I became completely invested in the crew and their journey. I actually felt as if I were experiencing all their emotions, so much so that my heart began fluttering wildly in my chest. From what I can tell, the female protagonist of the story is Wendy, the capable, plucky pilot of the spaceship who has lived on a space station near Saturn her entire life and has never even set foot on a planet...until now. We're also briefly introduced to the male protagonist who is some sort of alien, type as of yet is still unknown. Apparently, his name is Venturi and he's very tall with dark skin and violet eyes....and he has a tail. Huh? Oh yes, definitely a tail, and he really likes the color pink which is the color of the creature who has just crashed onto his planet which I believe is called Crashlander. (The first installment is only approximately 30 pages of actual story, so please don't judge. I don't have all the details yet, but I will...) I was immediately drawn into the story during the opening scene where a small group of humans ventures out of our solar system to test the first ever spaceship capable of lightspeed... and almost immediately crash into an unknown planet. What? Yup, the very first flight. Apparently, Dr Pherb, the inventor of lightspeed technology, is not as good at flying or controlling the ship as he is at inventing, much to the dismay of the actual pilot who now must somehow attempt to guide the crashing spaceship and attempt a landing on the strange green planet. Green???? Good luck with that because they crash and not everyone lives. Oh no! And FYI, they aren't alone! Oh, my! There's no actual romance, at least not yet. After all, we are talking about Annie Nicholas so I'm sure there'll be lots in the near future, but I absolutely LOVE what I've read so far! But stay tuned folks, there's more to follow as soon I read Part Two releasing August 29, 2016! I can hardly wait! Well done, Annie Nicholas! Your personal love for science fiction translates well in this delightfully cute sci-fi romp! Did I like it? No, I loved it! Will I read more? You bet! Just as soon as Nicholas releases Part Two! Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Good story, but not a book. I rarely leave 3 star reviews, usually 4-5 stars. Granted I didn't buy this, I read from the unlimited library, though even at 99 cents I'd assumed it was a story, a short quick read. Just reading, smack, cliff hanger , which honestly feels like a chapter ending, flip thinking a new page will pop up, crushing disappointment link for the next , "book".

This story was so short that I was surprised to find I had reached the end with very little warning. Yes, it says part one in the title, but I wasn't expecting a cliffhanger. With some authors, I'd be inclined to refuse to read part two because I hate cliffhangers so much that I don't want to reward authors for them. Colorful world 3 1/2 stars because it was too short and for me focused too much on the beginning. The world they crashed on sounds lovely but again not enough description at the beginning. If it was not free I would not have read it. I'm hoping the next installment will be longer, but if it costs more than .99 I won't be buying it. Pros: A spaceship, a crash landing, a hostile planet, and an alien encounter--that's everything I could ask for from the sci-fi I read. Great fun! Cons: I wish the complete story were in one volume, not a serial. The hero and heroine only just meet at the end of Part 1, so no romance yet.
