Wow what an introduction to this authors work! This is a short read and technically a prequel to her series but could also be read as a standalone. This was a fantastic novella, that includes demons, and how they deceive a young innocent girl. There is a Gothic darkness to this short story that has me intrigued to read the rest of the series.

**18+ As the book contains sexually explicit material unsuitable for younger readers** This is a dark introduction to 'The Black Rose' set long before the series in 1115A.D. when evil is locked away in Hell supposedly for eternity. This is a stand-alone short story but gives a dark and erotically charged teaser of what is to come. The world is a pure place with evil locked away however, there are loopholes and evil can on occasion slip out from its confines and spill onto the earth. This is a stand-alone short story but gives a dark and erotically charged teaser of what is to come. The world is a pure place with evil locked away however, there are loopholes and evil can on occasion slip out from its confines and spill onto the earth. We have a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' scenario or rather 'demon disguised as elegant gent'. The minions of Lucifer are out of their cage seeking to lure innocents from the path of purity into evil. The main characters of this story are Leviathan a beautiful fallen angel turned into a water demon, who has taken on the guise of Leofwin an elegant and helpful gentleman. He is on earth to lure the beautiful and pure Christiana into a life of sin. Initially he is out to seduce the girl and lead her to Lucifer who has a craving for beautiful pure, busty, smooth skinned virgins. But Leofwin wants her for his own, can she be tempted away from the protection of her loving family? Find out for yourself with this quick read. Highly Recommended if you are seeking to lose yourself within dark pleasures.

When darkness falls by Laura Morgan This is a beautifully written short story and the perfect way to dive in to Lauras dark world of the black rose series. This is a prequel novella and a short story but gives an accurate but tame look into the content of the series. You don’t need to have read the series to know what is happening in this story but it will leave you wanting more of it! Lauras work is always beautifully written with excellent descriptive text that leaves nothing to the imagination. A short read to either A, give you an insight to the black Rose series or B, gives you a better look into the twisted and warped mind of Lucifer if you've already read the series. I'm in camp B. I love the black Rose series and this has just helped to cement my feelings towards Lucifer and all his cronies. There is non of my favourite characters in this book which I'm very very happy about. I recently met Laura at a couple of book signings, and was curious to read some of her work having understood it as being very dark and unusual. So, when I saw this short story it seemed the perfect read to let me see how I would like it. And like it I did. I would never even think about reading this type of genre, but I really did enjoy it for its differences. The devil and innocence, but all consenting and pretty explicit! It has tempted me to try the 'Black Rose Series' now :-) I recently met Laura at a couple of book signings, and was curious to read some of her work having understood it as being very dark and unusual. This was my first delve into the Black Rose series, and I read it as a prequel to see what the series holds for me. This short story is based around three characters - Lucifer and Levathian (obviously from the underworld), and Christiana who has been cast under their spell. The story itself flowed really well between the POV of the three characters but I would have preferred if it was clearer which character was speaking. I met the author of this book at the Comic Con in Birmingham on 3 June. I was so impressed that I bought the entire series and have read this short story first. I was warned that the series was "dark" and it is defintely that. It reminded me of Lucifer meeting Christian Grey!! I thoroughly enjoyed it and am about to start the series proper. A fantastic start to the black rose series. I love the balance between evil and innocence. A completely twisted tale of romance at its darkest. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent! I'm not a huge fan of paranormal stories at all as those of you that have read my past reviews will know however I am a massive fan of Laura's work and always go into her books without reading the synopsis and this was no exception. What I discovered was yet another well written dark tale that pulled me in straight away and one I truly enjoyed. Yet again Laura created a world before my eyes and made me step out of my comfort zone. Highly recommended read. Excellent! Not my usual reading material but as I won them at Chester Signing in 2019 I found time to start reading the Black Rose Series. Laura provides a warning at the beginning of each of her books which I find really professional as her books are not for everyone and not necessarily an easy read. This short prequel wasn't really too bad in terms of the content and I found that I actually enjoyed reading it. Having read all of the Black Rose series, I jumped at the chance to read this book. I loved learning more about a character that was in the main story line. Completely hooked and left me wanting to know more about the other characters that are touched on. You don't need to have read the series as this stand as a great, well detailed story in itself without any other knowledge needed. But I would think if you enjoy this then Black Rose is definitely calling for you! Having read all of the Black Rose series, I jumped at the chance to read this book. This cheeky little novella is the perfect introduction into the Black Rose series. It's a great taster if you're unsure about starting the full series (due to the dark subject matter), but it's also really nice to read if you've finished the whole saga. It lets me fantasise again about the characters I'd fallen in love with - and miss. I'd be happy with a few more of these Laura :) This cheeky little novella is the perfect introduction into the Black Rose series.
