While in Paterson, NJ at one of the diners, they meet an artist who does paintings of diners. His body is discovered in teh river behind the diner the next day, and Jack and Charlotte are swept into helping solve the mystery of the murder and what happened to the missing eight million dollars' worth of paintings that used to be in the artist's studio. This was a gift from Menace, pifflers. It takes place mostly around her old stamping grounds near Paterson, NJ. It is number 5 of 8 in the Charlotte Graham series. The main character is an aging Broadway actress that -things- keep happening to - not exactly a cozy, but sufficient action offstage that the violence level is not too high for me. Characters nicely developed, plot reasonable, resolution believable.
