I read this first when i was twelve and i absolutely loved it. I reread it now that im 18 and i still think its really fun cute book for preteen girls but i dont fully agree with some of the messages in the book. For example around 50% of this entire book was dedicated to boys and snogging and how to attract boys. A book like this which offers guidance to young girls should be telling them that boys arent the most important thing in the world and that its okay for girls to have other interests. It should tell girls that its ok not to have a boyfriend in your teen years and that you should find a guy who likes you the way you are. instead it tells girls that they should change their appearance and get all dolled-up just for guys to like them. And the how to snog section- i felt extremely uncomfortable reading it; because its just sexualising young girls. But if i excluded that section of the book, id say it was quite helpful and really fun to read and the girls seemed like interesting characters. i havent read the rest of the series, but i dont think i will either.

Once in a blue moon, I start feeling very bad about all these books I've bought when I was 12 or so (now I'm 17) and haven't read and I pick one up. This blue moon I picked up Guide to Life. I don't know how useful it would've been to 12-year-old me since I have learned most of the things from experience, but it has good tips on how to treat people, how to do basic human interaction well, which would be useful to know at that age. I don't know how useful it would've been to 12-year-old me since I have learned most of the things from experience, but it has good tips on how to treat people, how to do basic human interaction well, which would be useful to know at that age. Sadly, most of the actual good tips on how to interact with humans correctly were titled as tips on boys and dating. The chapter about Guys and Relationships took almost HALF of the book and only 4 pages of it were titled as tips on relationships with your friends. It also painted guys as playboys, having interest span of a goldfish (what is attention span of a goldfish? What am I saying?), not EVER ready to commit to a relationship. And though the book says to move at your own pace at the end of the chapter, it spent all of it telling us to get into a relationship... Other tips were ok, nothing I haven't read in a (pre)teen magazine before except the ones on a healthier lifestyle, those quite helpful! So yeah, isn't the best book (a first chapter at least) if you're trying to raise an independent woman

I love this books when I was in my teens like 17yo. Its a light reading with interesting tips..but I don’t think it’s suitable for younger teenagers. And the tips about boys and relationships hmmm..not really keen into it. Overall I like it. Love the doodles

Review by K.N.: "I liked the beauty tips included in this guide, but disliked the humor associated with other things in this book. I would recommend to a girl who needs a guide." My boss gave me this to read because she thought I would find it entertaining (after I read and enjoyed Betty Cornell's Teen-Age Popularity Guide). She was right. I think I probably would have liked it more had I read any books in the series it's based on (...and if I were ten years younger), but still a fun read. this was a book that was more of a guide. It was funny and pretty cool. Like it gave advice about things girls like to know like BOYS. but people should read it cuz its just a book that you will want to pick now and then.
