Wicked to Love is book 5.5 in the Wicked Lovers series, and while I was glad to get Brandon Ross’s story, I sure wish it had been longer. Well, Jack wanted revenge so he planned to seduce Morgan, who he thought was Brandon’s fiancée, and was going to send Brandon a video tape of the seduction/sex. That’s really about all we got of that story, except of course Jack falling hard for Morgan and marrying her. I think Brandon definitely had the potential for a truly great story here, but maybe because it was so far in the past it would have been too little too late for the readers. This book is basically one long, very hot sex scene, that gave some closure to Brandon’s story, who I surprisingly came to adore. If he had been in any other series and not connected to Jack, Deke, Luc, Hunter and Logan, ‘just sex’ would have been fine, but I really, really was hoping for more about him.

Also, better known as Jack Cole's good friend who basically thought he was in love with Jack's wife until, after betraying his best friend for a woman, she left him too. He's been heartbroken for years, thinking he wants her back in his life, and not seeing what he's had right under his nose. Kayla has been Brandon's secretary for three years. Three years that she has fantasized, loved, and hoped that Brandon would notice her. But that was not to be the case. She's known Brandon was in love with someone and when she strolls in his office and they go out for lunch one afternoon she decides it's time to move on with her life. She can't keep doing this to herself. So she quits! And that was just the shock Brandon needed to finally notice Kayla. Proper, buttoned up Kayla. After she quit, he followed her home. Thinking of only talking some sense into her. He was not expecting to have her shoved up against the wall and not able to hold off one second before he was inside her. This story is short, it's hot, well, panty melting hot, but what didn't work well enough for me to give it five stars was the fact that in about 5 minutes Brandon went from 3 years of not thinking of Kayla as a love interest to not being able to live without her and considering marriage.

4 Stars. It wasn't very long, I knew that going in, but what there was was intense. The pervert in me just loves the way Shayla Black writes sex scenes in her books/stories. They stories aren't just written around the next sex scene, there is always substance, However, I love me a good bit of lovin', and while there may be some that are as good in delivering both there are none better. What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to Brandon's story and this fell flat. The story was way too short and I really didn't get any relationship between Em and Brandon other than he didn't want to lose her as a secretary and he liked the sex. The story was basically just about their sex but nothing else. The teaser about Kayla was just a big zero. This was really a nothing story and could have been so much more. : (( What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to Brandon's story and this fell flat. Nice office sex between secretary and boss with Emberlin and Brandon. Brandon who is Morgan's half brother and the one who had the affair with Jack's wife Kayla. A little different since there is no BDSM or menage in this one. Just two people getting together and finding love that was right under their noses all along. This didn't have any development. She quits and all of sudden, he realizes he can't lose her, they have sex, the end. I think the woman barely said two words. This didn't have any development. While I enjoyed these stories they were both too short and made me needing and wanting more. I do not understand what I read, 2 different parts of stories? It felt like we were only given a piece of the actual Story for each one. I enjoy this series but this book or 2 stories was a bit of a let down on what I like in her writings.

It was a good little short, nothing to really review it went well with the rest of the series. I will say the narration is good and she does a good job trying to separate the characters with different tones.

I'm so confused on what i just read.  It wasn't even substantial enough for me to get to the point, literally like 2 chapters worth maybe?  We have Brandon who is friends with Jack Cole, a guy that we know and love from other books, and his secretary Em.  We have a really short and fluffy story between these two.  Em has resigned from working for him because she think that he's still pining for Kayla - an ex flame of sorts, and her own feelings are clouding everything.  Too bad Brandon has other I'm so confused on what i just read. Too bad Brandon has other thoughts in mind and it takes her walking away from him to realize it.  So from there we get a really quick 24 hours of where they make that decision to be more than just coworkers and it's as steamy as expected.  Again though, so confused about what i read since there was no substance at all.

For some reason I don't remember who Brandon is or his connection to Jack, even after it was mentioned a couple of times. I think that might be part of why I didn't care for this one all that much. I also had a hard time buying into the couple. I find it odd that it took one woman to push Emmy over the edge to do something about Brandon. Brandon's role was odd to me too, instant attraction to Emmy when they met, but when he realized she was his employee he backed off. But after he thought he was going to loose her professionally he goes after her. I just thought the whole scope of the relationship was odd, maybe because all of this happened in 30 some odd pages it didn't help things out.

SPOILER ALERT! This is definitely the weakest link in the Wicked Lovers series. There was not real plot. Not much tension. I can honestly say It took me a while to read the novellas and I regret that sooooooo much. Closing the gaps in the wicked series is so much fun. Reading about Brandon and Emberlin was so much fun. I loved the almost instant recognition that he was missing something significant with her. Their passion burned bright and fast. And I loved every second of it. I adore this series. I hope it continues forever.

Good to see Brandon back from book one. Good story but to short I would have loved to see more of them building their relationship. Maybe we can see more of them in Tyler's upcoming book. I love how this author always ties in previous characters and finds great ways to introduce new ones to build the series further. She is one of my favorite authors for the hot and sexy genre. Is there anything as satisfying finding surprise attraction and chemistry? I really liked this story about finding out unrequited passion and love was in fact returned. I loved the fact that they had worked together for years even more.

Morgan Cole's brother (who through a bad decision inadvertently set the stage for his sister to meet her future husband), Brandon, hasn't dated anyone seriously since Kayla dumped him about six months after she left Jack for him. He's not immune thinking twice about a woman who catches his eye, a lovely blonde named Emberlin, only to learn she's his new executive assistant so he quickly workzones her. After three years, Kayla shows up and Brandon at long last finds closure. After three years, Kayla shows up and Brandon at long last finds closure. He realizes Kayla was a train wreck and that their relationship was unhealthy. Too bad Emberlin has had a crush on his since day one and quits when her heart just can't take seeing Brandon with the woman who hurt him. The book is really one long scene of Emberlin (who Brandon sweetly calls "Emmy") confessing her feelings for Brandon, and said knucklehead realizing the treasure he has. It's a little funny how he goes through a range of emotions from "hmm, a one-night stand" to "ok, I can handle a workplace fling", to "I can't wait to marry her and fill my huge house with our children" within the span of a few hours, but FFS this entire series relies on men proclaiming love for women shortly after meeting them. Oh yeah, lots of you-know-what but perhaps not as wicked. I did enjoy reading about how he and Morgan have bonded as newly discovered siblings, and sounds like he and Jack have at least come to an understanding and can enjoy Thanksgiving together. However, all interaction with Kayla happens off-page so we never really learn how the fudge this femme fatale keeps roping in men.

So I get it's a novella but honestly it was more like a vignette. I read some of the reviews and when they say short they aren't fucking kidding. It's essentially one sex scene. It's hot but it sure as hell isn't worth $2.99. I also think - you go along with it being part of a series, but if you picked it up on it's own not only would you definitely feel cheated, but that there's no development of relationship. Great quickie. Author got straight into this story with Em having resigned from her job as Brandon's personal assistant/secretary. Em has been in love with Brandon since meeting him 3 years ago but never acted on it because he was in love with someone from his past. When his past walks into the office and they leave together Em has had all she can endure and resigns. Brandon follows her home so they can hash it out and boy do they hash it out.....HEA follows some hot scenes. Great quickie.
