Inside the mind of an Addiction Term Addict is not determined by a definition or a cultural view or perspective; the telling story of how an Addict made it to be successful in life is touching, emotional and the betrayal to be loyal to an addiction of denial is powerless overwhelmed by hopes and desires to crime and loveless self-care even to the far edge of putting oneself in danger to turning tricks just to crave a high so powerless...the ultimate defeat is oneself to be determined to win the Inside the mind of an Addiction Term Addict is not determined by a definition or a cultural view or perspective; the telling story of how an Addict made it to be successful in life is touching, emotional and the betrayal to be loyal to an addiction of denial is powerless overwhelmed by hopes and desires to crime and loveless self-care even to the far edge of putting oneself in danger to turning tricks just to crave a high so powerless...the ultimate defeat is oneself to be determined to win the powerless defeat and go through the dread the end is the euphoria of what is sought to be the trueness of care/love for oneself and family with the true loyal friends not the drugs but the high of excitement of the coined phrase "life is a gift and precious cherish the memories and believe that good will come no matter how hard it may be the true strength lies within your conscience life is the craving high that is a good addiction to be addicted to and be blessed with yourself when removing the evils of the past to make your inner-self stronger and the smiles and cries that go along are the under statements of being mentally strong and defeating the powerless drugs that taint the falsities of craves...continue on and be strong" ... A great book to read and an insight to the thought process of how the mind of addiction works no matter what if you know someone that's an addict continue to be supportive in a critical and tough way it's the loyalty that is the royalty in the end the addiction is defeated and the true nature of the individual will see to it how you stuck by there side the entire way and that means the entire world to them...I learned a lot and am proud of the work I do where I drug test individuals for illicit drugs and am proud of all the individuals whom have made a great effort in over coming and conquering the powerlessness of a falsified addiction and please whatever you do stay away from the Rx Oxycodone and other addictive prescription medications that's how one can start the process to becoming an addict...stay clean sober and mentally strong

Interesting read! The book was interesting and I liked the perspective change in the book. There were some sentence structure problems and it should have been edited more, but overall it was good!

A very raw insightful look into an addicts mind and what happens to addicts as they spiral out of control.

This is definitely not a book I would recommend for someone that is new to or in recovery at present. This book contains so many "triggers" it's frightening. I was triggered and I am coming up on three years sober and am a recovering alcoholic-never a drug user. It is powerful. Having said that, as a not so subtle reminder of all things addiction I would have to say this is a must read simply because it has that power to reinforce our now chosen way of living our lives clean and sober. Instead of the lovely alternative chosen in the past. For recovering addicts of any description and in any stage of their recovery I would recommend this highly yet do not forget your own "comfort zone" before picking this up. It does contain triggers, very strong ones. Be aware of this. A line from the book; "It's funny how the addict doesn't seem to care about society's view of them until they get clean," Is so very true. First and foremost the DOC was the most important thing to us and the author states this numerous times throughout her detailed and painful description of her days as a practicing addict. Yet the fact she has now come to a state of clarity in her own life seemingly-to me was heartwarming. There is courage here.

Relatable and hard to put down I love that it’s not just a book about addiction it’s also about redemption! I would recommend this book to so many addicts that think there’s no hope for them. I just wanna add that there’s a huge catch 22 for moms that are in an abusive relationship and wanna get out of it safely n also they’re addicts but aren’t the stereotype they’re good, loving ,moms ,aren’t grimy aren’t thief’s don’t screw people over But they so badly want to get help want to get out of the h Relatable and hard to put down I love that it’s not just a book about addiction it’s also about redemption! There’s a lot of people scared of the repercussions if they reach out for the help they need. There is hope keep praying/begging god to not only give u the strength to quit also the strength to continue staying sober.

High til I Die I decided to read this book because I have a family member, who is an addict. I wanted to know what is probably happening to my loved one. This book is very upfront and graphic about what went on in this author's life. I am raising two children of my family member. They miss their Mom a lot. But, they are loved and wanted by my husband and I. I miss their Mom too, so much. I just wish she could read this book, maybe it would really help her. I think that everyone should read this b High til I Die I decided to read this book because I have a family member, who is an addict. I wanted to know what is probably happening to my loved one. Reminder of the lowest lows and then brings you back to end with a humble heart and blessed for new beginnings. Relatable. Raw. Reality. Perfect length for a quick read but hit every pit in my stomach reminding me of why I continue to fight for my recovery everyday. She did a great job honoring those that have lost their lives to this disease. Great book for someone to read that doesn't understand how an addict loses all control. Thanks for sharing your story. "Eye Opener" I chose a five star rating because the author speaks candidly and boldly about addiction and as a recovering addict for 19 years this far, and recently divorced due to my ex husband relapsing, I felt she gave me a current dose of reality! I feel as if she answered some of my concerns regarding my ex husband who admitted, "He likes to smoke crack!" Bless Up everyone who has and is struggling! April, write some more books! When I first read, "Strung Out Mom", I really enjoyed it and wrote the author wondering when part two would come out. She said she was busy and writing less but I'm glad I found this book because it was really good too. I love her gritty, plain spoken way of writing. It is graphic so just be prepared for that. I'd read anything by this author and hope she writes some more books! April, write some more books! Unsure I am not sure about this book,it feels as if it's been written as a drama story, not a true story, the offer of her new book half way through the story also made me feel I was right, it's call crack shack where apparently we will read about how a woman is willing to do anything for crack and it's an erotic story. So I don't believe this to be a true life story and this bothers me because addiction shouldn't be used to sell story and the author shouldn't be dishonest. It was okay It was poorly edited. I noticed a few mistakes that distracted me from the story. Things that could have easily been fixed. It's more of a short story than a book in my opinion. The story itself was good, but definitely could have used more detail. It was okay It was poorly edited. I noticed a few mistakes that distracted me from the story. Stunningly raw Author survived miraculously from death by heroin. Gripping. Could not put down account of descent into the abyss. One of the most honest tales I have read on the subject.

Inspired Heartbreaking yet heartwarming. I felt her pain, I felt her sadness. I rejoiced at her transformation. God is good. Truly a story of tragedy and trials. She blames no one but herself. Her openness will help others battling addiction. There is hope.

It was good but it was so short, it was only 26 pages so I mean how much can you really learn in 26 pages and so I think she could have definitely done a lot more but what was there was good.

Insightful Well written! As a non-addict, this book made it easier to possibly grasp the life and thought process of the addict. I commend you for your strength not only for seeking help and getting clean, but also for telling your story for others you understand the struggle

Powerful As a newly recovered addict, its books such as these that encourage me most. It wasn't full of stories of how fun and great it felt to be high . instead it showed the ugliness of what this addiction does to us and how we are left with nothing but misery while we are in active addiction. God bless this author for her courage. Powerful As a newly recovered addict, its books such as these that encourage me most.
