Atwood once again brings her world of shifter bodyguards to life. I loved the vividness with which this novella was written. Everything was slightly larger than life without being over the top. Atwood brings forward her intimate yet very enticing story with a definite flair. Atwood`s straightforward and captivating portrayal of acting behind the scenes really drew me to the characters. Getting a real sense of what they`re going through made it easy to identify with and feel for the. The natural banter between the main characters was also very appealing. I felt like I was actually there with them. I also found myself growing close to the characters. I love the feeling when they become part of your life rather than simply names on paper, and Atwood definitely does it with this one. For something quick, hot, and still in depth, Atwood is definitely my go-to author. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

This was better than #1. It's pretty straightforward. A known stalker.. although the identity of said stalker is left in the dark till the moment of action. I personally did NOT guess who even close. What I didn't like is that this is more like HFN.. nothing is really settled. They are just beginning...no follow through on Rick sorting his career and how that goes down. This was better than #1. It's pretty straightforward. The two had discovered a pride and settled with them. After a while they had decided to set up their security company and this is where Jordan Riker comes in. Jordan was supposed to be the heir to the pack leadership it's just his sexuality got in the way. Instead of allowing the feelings of misery and depression to bring him down, he decides to leave. Zac and Brody offer him a job and now he is a guardian, or a bodyguard. Rick is an actor who is up and coming because not only is he a good guy and actor, he has one of those faces that are considered as an IT. With fame comes the glory and money and with that comes in the undesirables such as a stalker. Jordan has got his work cut out for him. His job is not that difficult but being with Rick is. There is a chemistry that burns and it is impossible to turn the other way when the appreciation is returned and flaunted. This romance is absent of action scenes with the author dwelling more on how the two men begin to know each other and finally find that chance of a real happiness out in the open. Rick is still not out to the public so must weigh his options carefully. Jordan is easy with the whole situation being more focused on protecting Rick. Again, Ali Atwood brings the story to the fore without wasting much time. There is no overwhelming angst to get through and the men are acting like the men they should. No drama, no gushing of the emotions, just facing life as it is dealt them. I really liked Jordan and Rick's story although I have to be honest and say, I fell in love with Zac and Brody. Jordan has this tendency to clam shut and Rick's abilities to get his emotions up is kind of funny for he succeeds without hardly even trying. I think Jordan is just plain whipped by Rick. Thing is, I wish this second book were longer for there were some information between this book and the first that were lost in oblivion. If the author can come up with a story that comes between these, then my questions would be answered fully. Note: Copy graciously provided by the author after her advise the first be read beforehand. She's right.

He tried to keep it professional but just couldn't resist Rick's charm. I'm a little confused on if shifters are publicly known or not. In book 1 I thought they were a secret since one of the MC's knew nothing about why he was what he was. But in this one Rick just questions Jordan like it's not a secret, and the bad guy mentions it like it's common knowledge. Speaking of the bad guy, i was surprised by who it was. I had someone else pegged, so I can't decide if I like that I couldn't guess or if I'm annoyed that there's no way I would be able to figure it out given the info in the book.

I was given a copy of this book by the author in return for an unbiased reveiw. I ilked this book more than book 1. It featured on the relationship of the 2 MCs rather than trying to cover that and a mystery. Don't get me wrong, the stalker was the mystery and it again was so easily solved. I think with this series it would be better just to focus on the 2 MCs without further mystery. The books are too short really to do justice to a storyline like that. When Zac returns home to Virginia for a family affair, he’s surprised to learn his crush has called, asking to speak to him. They meet, and Brody asks for help on a missing person’s case, after revealing that he too is a government profiler. The POVs alternate at an alarming rate. I often had problems keeping track of whose POV I was in. Information is thrown at the reader in the nick of time. Like all of a sudden we learn that Brody has special abilities, but they are revealed after the fact or right before scene. And why the heck didn’t he use them at the appropriate time?? Faulty abilities?? One big issue (that occurred in each story and kind of blew my mind) is that the human is the one bantering about with the word mate. Uh...what?! At first I thought maybe they were in Australia until I remembered that they were in the USA. The storyline was interesting in theory, but the execution just killed it. (hide spoiler)] Book 2 - Romancing the Guardian 2.5 stars Book 2 of the series is set in Southern California. Somewhere between book one and book 2, Zac and Brody have gotten married, started a new protection company called Securecon, and shifters have been revealed to the world. NONE of this is explained - in case you were wondering...because I sure as hell was. Jordan Riker is a lion shifter and is the muscle from Securecon hired to protect up and coming actor, Rick Cantrell from a letter writing stalker. The mystery aspect was okay, except the stalker came out of left field. There were issues that made me roll my eyes and dread going on. 1. Riker and Rick - really? 2. Minutes after second bodyguard Noah leaves, he gets into an accident and Jordan and Rick are interrupted. 3. Minutes after orgasm, Rick is ready to go again. 4.The story was wrapped up nicely in a tight little bow. (view spoiler)[Book 3 - Biker’s Run 3 stars This third story of the series was probably the best - until the end. Noah, who we meet in book 2, has just returned from Jordan and Rick’s wedding. (All this insta-love is underwhelming.) He spies DEA agent Logan Riley and falls head over heels in lust. The feeling is mutual (of course), but Logan is a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. Logan needs help infiltrating a dirty biker gang, and Noah is perfect for the job. It’s a simple plot driven story with attraction thrown in. Again, the human banters about with the term mate. The sex was stilted and they do it on a stakeout - how unprofessional. These guys just can’t keep it in their pants, and I was so hoping they’d actually stick to what they were saying instead of jumping each other’s bones. Lots of tiny errors that dragged me out of the story too, and I was sure I read these were supposed to be HFN endings? Logan does a complete 180 and proposes after only knowing Jordan a week… I don’t think I can sigh loud enough. (hide spoiler)]

He becomes a bodyguard for a security firm run by Zac and Brandon, of the 1st book, and is assigned to protect Rick. Rick is an up and coming movie star who has an stalker getting more and more obsessed with him. While Jordan is originally standoffish, he and Rick eventually end up involved , with each of them hoping to make the relationship permanent. Eventually, the stalker is caught, Rick is safe, and Rick and Jordan make plans to continue seeing each other. I enjoyed the story. There was good flow, and I thought the characters were developed fairly well. The main issue I had with this story was that I was often confused when I tried to match it with the 1st book (which normally I would not do, but it was part of a series). For example, in the 1st book, Brandon talks about hiding that he is a shifter, that he knows of no other shifters, etc., leading to the conclusion that shifters are not common knowledge. Yet, in this book, everyone seems to be aware of shifters and there is no real sense of fear or overt prejudice (suggesting this knowledge has been around for awhile). As well, when we last left Zac and Brandon, they were still in their original careers with no mention of a security firm, so it took a while for me to clue in that they were the owners of the firm in this book. I think a page or two connecting the two books, somehow touching on the fact that shifters were now common knowledge and about the security firm, would have really helped the flow for me, as I kept being pulled out of the plot as I tried to figure this out. All in all, a pretty good story, although I wouldn't necessarily say that it needs to be read as part of the series (in fact, it might be better if you didn't).

The insta-connection, insta-chemistry between Rick and Jordan is too much. Insta-love is not always a bad thing. It's the basis for almost (I say almost!) every romance novel that was ever written. However, they were written in a way that felt more real and not so insta-love. The sexual innuendos on Rick's part were cute, and funny how they displeased Jordan. The paranormal/shifter element. What can I say? The basics for this are good and strong, but it is not explained how Rick knows so much about shifters. Why was it such a big deal in the first book, and not this one? Was there some big news broadcast? I mean, was there some kind of outing as there was in the Dead Until Dark Sookie Stackhouse books? I do love a good bodyguard/movie star plot, so that is a point in this books favor. It was just not executed well, in my opinion. I don't really know what to say beyond this book (prob whole series) wasn't ready to be published and needed a lot more input from beta readers.

I could handle the speed partially because the prior history they had. The whole shifter aspect seemed unnecessary and bizarre. It almost caught me off guard because it didn't seem like a relevant part of the story so I kept forgetting the shifter aspect until it was mentioned again. Rick and Jordan from Romancing the Guardian were my least favorite couple. The storyline was weak and the conclusion wrapped up far no quickly and neatly. My disclaimer is that I usually don't like stories relating to actors. Neither was distinctive or memorable in any way. With Biker's Run, I felt there wasn't enough chemistry with Logan and Noah and what should have been an interesting story, with the drug undercover operation, was a bit dry and rushed. There just wasn't enough time to delve into the relationship. The three books were loosely tied but work as stand alone books. Great effort from this author, but a lot more detail and character development would improve her stories tremendously. I was provided these stories in exchange for an honest review.

Oh course the company knew Jorden was a shifter, it a shifter company, and how did Rick how that? But when reading it, it sounds like it's Jorden thinking it about Rick, but he's not, I don't think, if so that's the only mention of it in the whole book! I read this book straight after reading book 1. And it did not follow on. I would recommend reading it on its own. Cause it just annoyed me how little it made sense. When we left the previous MCs they didn't know if any other shifters existed, but now a psychologist and ex-assassin own a shifter bodyguard company? The other thing that annoyed me was this was another story with two guys that could never see themselves in a relationship falling in love and getting engaged within days of meeting. Also does this mean Ricks out now?

I felt the stalker bit was just thrown in there for extra drama. It barely even brought purpose to the story. Yes, it was an excuse for the MCs to meet and stay within proximity to one another but that is it. When the BIG revile accrued it was over in two pages, leaving me feeling confused and wanting more. Also, if Rick's stalker had done more to him or played a more significate role the story, it would have been a lot better, and the stalker would have felt like more of a threat than a background character. I also call BS that an actor would potentially through his career away (coming out) for someone he knew for a few days. I am not saying I didn’t like the story. They relationship was cute, but with stalker thing not being a big thing in the story caused me to dock stars.

It was interesting to hear how this book tied in with the characters from book one. The tidbit about Brody and Zac was welcoming. Rick's stalker was hard to pinpoint, since most of the focus of the book was on the romance aspect. It kind of bugged me that Noah Nicklin was addressed by his last name by Rick when only Jordan was informed Nick was going to show up in the story. It made me feel like I was missing something.

I received this book for free for a fair and honest review. The second book in the Shifters & Lovers series and I liked this one much better than the first (the additional 10 pages makes a difference in my opinion.) Jordan is a lion shifter body guard and Rick is the man he needs to protect. This was a standard bodyguard/client story but the addition of the guard being a shifter was nice and it was obvious in this book that shifters are a known thing.
