I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Caroline has a wonderful way of taking you back in time and giving you a taste of nostalgia. I felt like I was experiencing the mining back when candles were worn, the challenge faced by the pioneers, and the discovery of new love. I got drawn into the characters and the story.

Five Stars for O’Neill’s Texas Bride Book 2 in The McClintocks Series I enjoyed this second installment to the McClintock Series. You do not have to read the first book to enjoy or follow Finn’s and Stella’s story, but you will miss out on another great story if you don’t. I love the way Caroline weaves the lives of her characters together and breathes such life into her stories that you long to read their next adventure. Finn O’Neill dreams of having a ranch of his own. A ranch that meets all his hopes and dreams comes up for sale. He can only swing a deal for the purchase if he is able to convenes Grandpa McClintock to help him with the purchase. Grandpa is happy to help, but he needs a favor of a covert nature, from Finn as well. He needs Finn to become a miner in the Farland Coal Mine and uncover who is behind the disastrous accidents happening in the mine. To do this Finn must pretend to be a miner. Though this favor may prove to be extremely dangerous Finn is willing to take the risk to get the ranch he has dreamed of for so long. Stella Clayton’s father is a team leader of the most productive team working in the Farland Coal Mine. He is also on the short list of suspects for causing the deadly cave ins. Stella hates that her father must work in the mines and fears for her young brother who will someday have to join the workers in the deep, dark tunnels that have taken so many lives. Stella teaches school and dreams of someday finding a way for her and her family to leave the coal mines. Falling in love with a coal miner is something she will never allow herself to do. This story is a delightful tale of mystery, dreams, love and happy endings.

Mystery and romance I love a good series. Finn is a good hero and Stella really is a star. I wish we could have had Grandpa ripping at that mine owner. Seems to me to be a loose end.

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review and I loved it so much that I’ve just one-clicked it. O’Neill’s Texas Bride is the second book in The McClintock Series. I’ve found it’s a very enjoyable story, well-written and with characters that are engaging – even the villains. Welcome to the world of Farland Coal Mine and the daily life of the miners and their families and follow Finn O’Neill’s undercover operation to discover what’s – or rather who’s – behind a series of disasters that are anything but coincidences. Meet young Stella Clayton, the schoolteacher with who our undercover agent will fall in love with. However this is not a conventional love story. Yes, romance plays an important role in the book, but what I’ve really appreciated is that a lot is devoted to the mystery surrounding all those so-called accidents and the details of the day-to-day life in the mines. So, meet all the other protagonists – whether they are the main characters or the secondary ones – and as Finn pursues his investigation, try to figure out who is the culprit. Love, mystery, plot twists... What more could you want? I believe Caroline Clemmons has put a lot of research in that book and the end result is absolutely great. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is a story of the mining hardship and the romance that came out of it. Finn wanted to be at his new ranch, but had a job to do first. He had to find out who was causing all the trouble at the mines. Stella was a school teacher who couldn't stop thinking about the new man working with her father in the mines. The events are full of excitement, wonder and a growing romance. Another great story by Caroline Clemmons, that kept me turning the pages. Enjoyed As Much As The First! This author has the knack of putting you right into the story. At one point I thought I was going to have a claustrophobia attack while they were descending into the mines, swaying on a platform in the dark. Lol I am loving this series and look forward to book #3 I loved the hero and heroine and all the supporting characters. A fairly clean but fun read. JudyE
