Short and quick! This is a great short introduction to the man whom my granny worshipped as 'the man who brought running water to our kampung house'. A simple statement that brought forth many truths about Lee Kuan Yew. To those who did not know about the history of this little dot on the world map, Singapore is brought forth to the world arena by LKY. This book is good to remind those who came from the simple days of running water to today's world of internet that LKY is the key that opens the future for Singapore. I did enjoy the quotes and reading about what other world leaders : political, economical, commercial and even spiritual, say about LKY just brought tingles to my soul. My granny is never wrong. LKY is always right.

The True statesman of the world Sir LKY was a genius would be an understatement, young generation can learn, imbibe and display many qualities which LKY had in abundance. This book dwells on very few of them but is still worth read.

This is a kind of biography I wish it had more stories, more personal experiences, more human emotions. This book is full of facts in chronological order. And that's why you may find it bit dull. The book disappoints. It is too brief for a persona like LKY. The author hardly sheds light on the life of this iconic figure who transformed Singapore. It is more about chronology and quotations. Some of the quotes, specially those from the great man himself, are seminal : "Rest on laurels? I wish I could do that. No, you rest when you are dead". Here was a man "who saw tomorrow". Le had his own understanding of leadership : "If you cannot force or are unwilling to force your people to follow y The book disappoints. It makes for a good introduction but in the end, it's just a compilation of a bunch of quotes. In the end, the only thing I got from it is: "Lee kuan Yew made Singapore great. He gave his most of his life to making it happen though not all agree with how he did it." I felt that it would have been interesting to know what the author thought of him and what events highlighted his leadership. On-the-go read It's a quick and concise read. However, I wish there was more rich content on LKY's philosophy - a lot of the book is filled up with quotes from other world leaders, not LKY's own.
