The betrayal that is revealed, utterly and profoundly shatters Lauren's idyllic world in a way she never ever believed possible. Traumatised, terrified and desperately fighting for her survival, Lauren shares her journey of pain, recovery, healing and personal growth that comes form being 'smashed to pieces' by an unexpected life crisis. This is based on the authors true life experiences so I don't want to be unkind but it's it for me. Too vague on the things I wanted to know and too much detail on other things. Not written in a normal novel style. This is based on the authors true life experiences so I don't want to be unkind but it's it for me. 2.5 (almost a 2) This was well on its way to being a four star read but then two things went wrong: 1) it got really boring and 2) it skimmed the really important "why" and "grovel" conversation. The boring part was the very in-depth ramblings of day to day life after the initial falling to pieces- yes, I get it shows her moving on and her strength returning, but as a reader this could have been done in 1/4 of the ramblings. The "why" conversation was so frustrating - as the reader this is the most important part of the book. This and the grovel - both we're missing. That this story is true makes it all the more important. So annoying that she skimmed over this part in less than 4 paragraphs. . So tempted to give it 2 star review but I admire the courage of the biographer and that because I was engaged for a lot of the book, I don't want to mark it down.

This book kept me turning the pages wanting to know what would happen next. I couldn't believe how many parallels there were in Lauren's story with my life and the lives of so many women I have known. The story is especially poignant being set in the Southern Highlands near Sydney where I now live; making it all the more real and relatable. I was stunned to realise this is the first book I have read that so authentically talks about what actually happens when your partner falls for someone else a This book kept me turning the pages wanting to know what would happen next. I was stunned to realise this is the first book I have read that so authentically talks about what actually happens when your partner falls for someone else and that person is in your inner circle. It happens so often and Ester Perel speaks very eloquently in her podcasts and books about how even now we still know and understand so little about this dynamic and how much we need to unpack this process and why it happens without judgement. That way we can be more informed, empathetic and effective when we or the people we love inevitably get caught up in this situation. What an important book for women which also just happens to be very entertaining and a bloody good read:)!

2.5 This story is supposedly this authors true story of her marriage. I have sympathy for the woman and her 4 young boys. I gave this story 2.5 stars because I was bored with her page after page of letters she wrote to her husband which she actually sent while he was seeing the other woman who was staying in his rental house was embarrassed for her. We also I didn’t get the husband POV.

This woman should be admitted to the psych ward! The things she did to her children, in my opinion, is child abuse! Constantly raving and ranting about her ex, sending letters that went on and on while her children had to take care of her. It was always me me me. The children should be in counseling. Truly a nut job of a mother. I would like to read the husband POV. This book was horrifying. I was appalled!

The true story of a brave, strong woman who unfortunately loves a stupid weak man!

Boring Mediocre writing with no real idea/plot to the story. Sadly, the story is the daily life for many. I kept waiting for something spectacular to happen to no avail.

The author showed the pain, disbelief, and utter chaos that infodelity causes. I felt her pain in a visceral way. The emotion is high, the daily anger and confusion is descriptively expressed. After making us feel her pain, and seeing the damage done to her children, I found the decision to let hubby back in her life irresponsible at best. There is a follow up book which I have downloaded, and I am curious to see how things evolved, but nothing will make me think that the author didn't err in her decisions regarding letting her spouse back in her life enough to exponentially increase the life long damage to her children- even if it Does turn out that he had a 'brain tumor'. The highlight of this book is the amazing group of friends and supporters that this woman has, and what that says about the author.
