This is the first time I finished a book and felt that none of the main characters were likeable or had good qualities I could relate to. Please note this book ends with another cliffhanger. In book two, Cat is still running away from her feelings for Johnny. She ran right into the arms of a disingenuous player, Tiago. The relationship between Cat and Tiago seemed forced and destined to fail from the beginning. Please note this book ends with another cliffhanger. In book two, Cat is still running away from her feelings for Johnny. She ran right into the arms of a disingenuous player, Tiago. The relationship between Cat and Tiago seemed forced and destined to fail from the beginning. Secondly, if Nicole is the best female friend that Cat can find then I feel sorry for Cat. Cat laid to rest their years of feuding in high school over Johnny, took Nicole on her road trip of self discovery, allowed Nicole to live with her, and stuck by Nicole while she went to see her dad. And how does Nicole repay her friendship: 1. By secretly going behind Cat's back to talk to Johnny knowing she herself had unresolved lustful feelings about Johnny. 2. Continually lying and withholding about about how much she was communicating with Johnny. 3. Secretly meeting up with Johnny knowing that he is trying to put the moves on her and allowing him to kiss her. Cat finds out about kiss between Johnny and Nicole and confronts her. Finally, Cat is showing some backbone. Hip Hip Hooray!!!. Oh, but wait we can't have that. Just throw Nicole's diary at her and she will become the doormat she is destined to be and bless Nicole and Johnny having a relationship. (This is definitely a WTF moment. I read this portion several times, and to this day I am still in shock. ) After reading this book I don't whether I want to nominate the main character, Cat, for sainthood or slap her silly for being naive and making excuses for Nicole's deception. Finally, I really can't describe how much I utterly detest Johnny in this book. He is one of the most conniving male leads I have ever read about in a romance book. To actively sexual pursue the best friend of the girl you are still in love with is despicable. Then he has the nerve to be mad a Tiago for cheating. There is nothing special about Johnny other than his father taught him how to make money. Unfortunately, he did not teach Johnny about integrity and honesty. Two characteristics he desperately lacks. Its going to take alot to redeem Johnny's character. Now, I know why Johnny and Nicole are so attracted to each other. It's because both of them are duplicitous liars who do not mind betraying the ones that love them to get what they want. Ms. Dunning has done an excellent of invoking emotions. I fell nothing but smoldering disdain for Nicole and Johnny. I somewhat like Cat, but she is just too trusting and forgiving.
