    I actually read this twice because I initially couldn't remember enough of the content to write a review. General advice for someone who is already healthy, not someone who has a brain injury. I just didn't feel I learned anything new or applicable to our situation and that is why the book is not memorable. It may be a good book for someone just beginning to delve into this topic, and there is a possibility this may have some basic level of interest to someone who is brain-injured for its remind I actually read this twice because I initially couldn't remember enough of the content to write a review. General advice for someone who is already healthy, not someone who has a brain injury. I just didn't feel I learned anything new or applicable to our situation and that is why the book is not memorable. It may be a good book for someone just beginning to delve into this topic, and there is a possibility this may have some basic level of interest to someone who is brain-injured for its reminders to be positive, do some simple exercises & meditation daily and get enough sleep. But I also feel it would be frustrating and might leave the reader more angry or hopeless as some strategies such as those for "thinking fast" are just going to be discouraging when actual cognitive rehabilitation is needed, not just motivation. We may be the wrong target audience for this particular book, but the information was insufficient as we are unable to use the "quick hacks" to "get through the tasks in a breeze." There is a statement about "willing ourselves to break our old habits" to "accommodate new productive ones" because "brain cells don't die hard, but our old habits do." This is a painful statement to read if you have an acquired brain injury and were previously a highly functional person. It assumes lack of motivation and lazy choices when the reality is that an injury has caused damage and that injury most likely happened in an instant--think about auto collisions, falls, or being bit by a falling object. Sometimes it is desirable and important to recapture old habits such as an ability to read without headaches and be in a social environment that includes noises and bright lights (such as school). Brain-injured people may be working very hard and in a difficult environment as their injuries are hidden and they may not receive as much support since they do not look injured. The book didn't have enough specific strategies for improving memory, cognitive skills and mental focus to meet our needs.

The main takeaway I found was that you can't have a healthy mind (brain) without having a healthy body. Although keeping your mind healthy has a lot to do with keeping your brain active, positive, and free.     If you want to absolutely strengthen your memory, then this book is a "must" read. Especially short term memory. Before reading/studying this book, I used to think of something that I needed to do, got interrupted for a moment, and forgot what I had started to do. Following the guidelines in this book has helped my mind by leaps and bounds. I highly recommend this as a must read, particularly to those that are struggling daily with remembering to get things done.
