Sometimes you get so attached to fictional characters that when a book ends, you miss them. Such is the case for me with Sasha, Stefan, and Charles in the latest KF Breene series. The third installment in this story was released yesterday, and I happily and greedily got sucked back into their world. This is a compelling series, full of mythological creatures and beings remade so skillfully that they seem normal. Paranormal and fantasy isn’t my favorite genre, because it takes a skilled writer with a firm grasp of reality to write a story that seems legitimate and relatable. KF Breene is exactly that kind of writer, and I thoroughly enjoy reading everything she writes. On A Razor’s Edge picks up more or less where Braving the Elements left off, with Stefan and Sasha totally in love and screwing every chance they get. With the much anticipated arrival of the Regional - essentially the Boss’s boss - we see Stefan in a whole new light, and learn more about how Stefan’s people fit into our world. There is also another species of almost-humans and a road trip involved. Lots of magic, lots of information, lots of fun. Honestly, the real world seems pretty boring and staid in comparison. The more I read this series, the more intrigued I get. Yes, I love the hot sex and the proliferation of physical beauty, but it is the magical power and the non-human creatures that really fascinates me. I am a bit wistful for their almost-real world, and after each book I look at our world a bit differently. It’s possible there are other human-like species walking around....it’s possible that humans have the ability to wield magic, if only we knew how....it is all very possible.... This third book lives up to the high standards of fun, interesting, and hot established by the first two books. It is a enchanting read, and while several important issues are satisfied, it will leave you hungry for the next book.

3.5 stars. I really liked the first book, but the second book was a bit of a let down. It has redeemed itself with book 3, lol. I like where the plot line is leading us and hopefully the characters will develop a bit more. Sad that it is a short read though....

On A Razor’s Edge starts off with Stefan and his clan awaiting a visit from the Regional – the grand poobah (more or less) of Stefan’s race of “not humans but not vampires either”. Things go surprisingly well – all things considered – and before she knows it; Sasha is off to magic camp. Well not really, but she is off to study under Toa and learn her craft; deep in the heart of Mata country. The Regional – Dominicous who seems to take a bit of a shine to Sasha (more on that later); explains that the Council has entered into an agreement with the North American Mata (aka shapeshifters) and that Sasha will be part of an “exchange program” – going into their territory as a delegation; as Stefan’s intended mate – and also to learn to control her magic – relatively safe from the evil Andris and his Caped Crusader. There’s lots of excitement along the way. Sasha has Charles and Jonas along as her body guards; even though Jonas hates humans, and Sasha in particular and has already tried to kill her. Stefan for some reason trusts Jonas but doesn’t trust the Mata – like at all. Darla shows up with Adnan to offer friendly assistance – because she’s just good that way. There’s betrayal and new loyalties forged. There an epic battle. There’s humor. There’s Charles thinking with his dick as usual. There’s also romance – which – I have to say – I just don’t really feel the chemistry between Sasha and Stefan – but I think it’s really a case of it being “me not them” that’s the problem. I like them both as characters.

This was a little bit of a drag... i wanted more of more of more...and when I did get more, I was kinda wasted from waiting to get there at least the sex is still holding the fortress and the banter between our heroine, her bodyguard Charles is hilarious (I like Charles, btw!) and I still need to see how this will end

So I am definitely getting tired of the "I can't figure out my magic." plot line. I am not sure if it is the way people treat her because Sasha's magic doesn't want to cooperate, or if its her own attitude towards learning the magic and trying to manipulate it, but I am for sure feeling the frustration on this. Maybe if they spent more time trying to figure out what she is and why she is this way it would help. So I am glad Trek is out of the picture, seemed a little anticlimactic tho. Why is it that Sasha can speak to the Dulcha? Everyone keeps making vague mentions of this with surprised or shocked expressions but no one ever explains what it means! I really need for Sasha to get a handle on this so we can move past it, maybe even just figure out how to learn and make some progress. The lack of progress is going to be this series's downfall for me if it doesn't pick up soon.

Sasha tries to learn to control and harness for talents danger looks right around the corner. Diving into the next book! Absolutely love Victoria’s narration!

Hate to put it down I continue to enjoy Sasha's sassy and mix of unconfident personality. I am so proud of Stephen trusting her to be an ambassador to the shifters alone. Though he didn't really have a choice. Darla continues to be a hussy unfortunately and Jonas is still a jerk, but Sasha doesn't give up. My only issue was how fast it goes. They also notice that Stefen has marked her but it’s not out of business but because he loves her. The pair is nervous that they won’t let them be together but after seeing what Sasha can do things are looking hopeful. With the help of Toa a white mage Sasha may just learn to control her powers. Stefen and his people have been at war with the Mata who happen to be shape shifters but the Regional wants to form an alliance. Wanting to keep them happy so that he can keep Sasha as his mate Stefen agrees to let her live with the Mata as an exchange program. It will give her a chance to work with Toa on her magic as well as learn to be a leader. With a friend from the past claiming her she may have found her place in Stefen’s world but will it last? What about the threat that still wants to take control of Sasha and has found a way to get her? Oh Sasha you just keep getting better with age. Each book I find myself liking her more and more, she has this spark you can’t help liking. She’s has a sense of humor that makes me laugh even if she’s creating killer treats or taking dinosaur bites. She may be lacking in training but she’s still willing to give it a shot even when it ends badly. I love the chemistry between Sasha and Stefen they are a power couple who love each other and are willing to risk everything for each other. I still like Charles he puts up with so much but handles it well. I found On a Razor’s Edge to be a captivating installment in the Darkness series. I couldn’t put it down I just had to know what was going to happen to my new favorite power couple. The author introduces the twist of shapeshifters which I felt added a new dynamic to the mix. I’ve read the series back to back over the course of a day and half one after another. This is another installment I finished in a few hours. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next with the series. An action packed story filled that kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end only to leave me wanting more. The characters are engaging I feel like I’m really connecting to them. The covers are beautifully done just like the story that is beautifully written. I really enjoyed reading the book it was a surprise after how much I enjoyed the series. The first book is a little rough but the second and third are fantastic. This is my first series by this author but I plan to check out what else is available while I wait for the next book….”hint hint”

The Darkness series by K.F. Breene is a light fantasy romance series. It has an intriguing basic concept, action, funny banters and of course, magic, vampires and shape-shifters. The series starts out interesting but looses it all pretty soon and turns into a superficial formula fiction. The first 3 books are readable, although only as a light quick read with no expectations. The following books are disastrous. .... You can find the full review under book 1 in this series.

Stefan thinks highly of himself and his abilities, "it's a good place to start. And the next big thing has been here. Or didn't you remember getting pounded by it when you woke up?" A new type of “human” species is introduced in this book, although a lot isn’t explain about them, they however are a pack made up of different animal shifters, bear, “cats” and wolves, etc. This book was fast paced with another explosive fight, new levels of relationship between Stefan and Sasha, friendships and secrets revealed. It’s very hard to write this review without giving any of the plots and twists away but please read this series. I was recommended it through a Facebook group I’m in and I can say I’m throughly enjoying it. So many scenes stick out in this book but the one that I feel deserves a mention is when Sasha is being assessed with her magic abilities. It had me in stitches with the reactions when things wouldn’t go right (as per Sasha’s way), then heartache when she used White magic. But the one that had me hysterical was in the room after the freezing incident with her shield and the guards lol. Cryptic I know but if you go and read the book you’ll understand. Still enjoying this series and I can’t wait to see what’s next, so I’m off to go and read ‘Demons’. FYI there is intimate scenes in this book so recommend it for mature ages.

Suspicious to political intrigue and betrayal from all sources, Stefan and Sasha will need to be stronger, faster, and more skilled in magic if they hope to survive the oncoming war that is foreseen. The first step is knowing who the enemy actually is. * * * * I wanted to throw out a subjective opinion about this series as a whole. After reading the 1st installment Into the Darkness I really had this series pigeon holed as a dark series with adult content thrown in of the non-dub nature. As I appreciate paranormal in all shapes and sizes I was ok with that but had put the series on the back burner until recently. I picked up the 2nd installment Braving the Elements and really did have to go back numerous times to check if this was the same series and author. Total about face in the flavor and presentation. In a really really good way. I did't include a commentary review for the 2nd installment as I didn't want to steer any potential readers the wrong way so waited until finishing this one to post my thoughts and opinions. For those who wonder if this is a standalone installment or not. Sorry, this series builds and evolves so reading the previous installments is a must. For those who have issues with dark or same sex adult content, I really can't say anything other than skip the parts of that installment you need to as it's the core that the series is built off of. As for any parallel series/authors to reference to this series. I really can't put my finger on any "if you read _______, you'll enjoy this series" sort of thing. The best I could do is that this has the flavor (and only the flavor) of an adult Harry Potter premise, a series plot storyline similar to Lexi Blake's Thieves & d'Elen McCain's Fang Chronicles, and the kick ass power couple dynamics of Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. Best analogy I can come to. That being said. The action adventure and supplemental adult content scenes were well written with a fictional world building that have me believing such a place and cast of characters could exist in reality. I don't think I could read fast enough as page after page brought me deeper into Sasha's world of craziness. Add in a suspense-mystery storyline that kept me continually on edge as I never knew when or where the next twist or turn would pop up. I really wish this book would have been longer if only to savor things. But. I'm not sure that would have been a good idea as adding fluff and/or getting bogged down in unnecessary content might have been counter productive. Regardless, this was a series I would go to see if it was ever made into a movie. As for the core relationship. Sasha and Stephan. Sasha is the central character that the series revolves around. Sassy, snarky, strong, and the type of girl who follows my own personal philosophy: fake it til you make it. Sasha may be a newbie to the magical and paranormal world, but she's a fast learner and won't allow anyone to think less of her just because she's a human. As for Stefan. He's the alpha's alpha of his clan until Sasha entered the picture. To really understand and experience the fireworks yourself, read this book/series. The secondary cast of characters. How to explain how the author was able to provide a complete believable world because of the excellent way she integrated the core and secondary cast is difficult. Charlie. I dare anyone not to change their opinion of him after reading Into the Darkness. Dominicous. On the fence about this character but if the future pans out the way I hope with this character. Another strong asset to the series. Tao. Creepy doesn't begin to explain this character. Yet, you know what they say .... Darla. I don't know whether to feel sorry for her or not. Tim. Do I see a spin off in this character's future? Jonas. the jury is out if he's on the good or bad side. Either way I don't see myself wanting him to stick around. In other words. The secondary characters have well defined personalities that readers will be able to identify to and form opinions about. That for me is when words in a book become real. I highly recommend fans of contemporary paranormal/urban fantasy adult content check out this series. It will appeal to both the male and female fans as it is action driven with a supplemental romance to anchor it. And. The added suspense/intrigue/mystery elements definitely add depth to the reading experience

The love between her and stuffing and the sex is hot. Toa is interesting as is dimincious

This book was the best of the three I have read so far. Its just a shame the battles happen so fast and are over within a couple of pages. This book constantly talks about stefans mistrust (of the shifters) but still doesn't say why I think the main reason as to why I have marked this book as a 3 star is because the protagonist is constantly portrayed as weak but then the battle happens and somehow she manages to save the day. its just too unrealistic at times. I just love this series! Really you need to read this book and the series. This is my second time reading these books. I still can't get enough of them. Stephen, a strong handsome male lead character with Sasha, a strong smart ass female character. Then there's Sasha's bodyguard, Charles the youngest watch commander, he's brash, promiscuous an all around good guy. Who knits in his spare time. I have to laugh at that! This is a fun, paranormal, romance and suspense story. You'll love it! I just love this series! Really you need to read this book and the series. This is my second time reading these books. I read the first four books back to back, and they've all blended, so this stands for all four installments. A little while ago, I was lured in to reading some atrocious book that was described something like "for fans of the Black Dagger Brotherhood." THIS series actually deserves that description. It sits firmly in the PNR genre. Yes, there are some flaws, but it's a fun and steamy bit of escapism.
