The medium sized hook is used for the main part of the hat and the smaller hook for the hat band to ensure a snug fit. The finished hat measures approximately 20 inches (51 cm) in diameter around the base, but will stretch to fit larger sized heads, so it is suitable from 'tweens' to adults. The hat length from base to top is approximately 11 inches (28 cm). It's a winner. I seldom have anything nice to say about these books/patterns. They almost always need better instruction or at least pics to guide you. This is an exception. The instruction are clear and no other picture was necessary to complete the project. It's easy enough that a beginner with just very basic knowledge vocab complete it and be happy with the results. Thanks for being an exception to my rule. It's a winner. I seldom have anything nice to say about these books/patterns. They almost always need better instruction or at least pics to guide you. Well done Very detailed with all requirements for making the hat. Good explanation for using multiple size hooks. Plan on making some to donate to cancer patients.
