This second volume has me intrigued. I guess I will have to pick up the book sometime. Maybe this year for the 2015 SWON reading challenge?

I really enjoyed Kagawa’s Shadow of the Fox series and looked up her other books hoping for something similar. They are not. While looking through them, I came across her Iron Fey series. I don’t generally read books with fairies so thought I’d read the graphic novel. It’s alright. Someone who enjoys fairy stories more than I do might like this graphic novel more. It seemed to skip or rush through pivotal points to the plot. So, for less than 100 pages, it was interesting enough.

I wish I could recommend it, but while I love me some fae, and the art wasn't half bad, it just didn't translate well into the graphic novel medium: you'd need someone competent in more than drawing to actually manage to retell a book in GN format: the Twilight GN, the Parasol Protectorate GN and the Claudia (from Interview with a Vampire) GN are excellent examples of it. This is just a very poor attempt at cashing in. Fortunately, I had already bought the books (they are in my to read pile) or I I wish I could recommend it, but while I love me some fae, and the art wasn't half bad, it just didn't translate well into the graphic novel medium: you'd need someone competent in more than drawing to actually manage to retell a book in GN format: the Twilight GN, the Parasol Protectorate GN and the Claudia (from Interview with a Vampire) GN are excellent examples of it. This second volume in a four volume set of Julie Kagawa's The Iron King does not disappoint! It is fast paced with beautiful images, and the facial expressions of the characters have me cracking up in laughter almost every page. Elysium... and Ash... and dancing... and Ash. *sigh*... and then chimeras, fighting, and threats of war. {dun, dun, DUN!} It's a pretty abbreviated version of The Iron King, but it's really, really, fun to see this come to life visually. Can't wait for the next issue! Not as good as first one... Why would faery look and the seely court like any city place? Trolls, faeries, knights... They all look the same and dress normal not faery besides the pointy ears, very disappointing!

I missed Ash so much it's not even funny. Like now I want to go back and re-read all those books. I missed Ash so much it's not even funny. Like now I want to go back and re-read all those books.
