This children's book takes a very mundane subject familiar to many little girls - a girl misses a ballet class and has to make it up - and sets it in a fairy tale land of princesses and queens. If you have a girlly girl who likes pink things, princesses, and ballet, she may enjoy this book, especially if she's ever been nervous about a change in routine or having to deal with new people. If your daughter doesn't have these particular fears, however, the book may seem silly or exaggerated. If you have a girlly girl who likes pink things, princesses, and ballet, she may enjoy this book, especially if she's ever been nervous about a change in routine or having to deal with new people. If your daughter doesn't have these particular fears, however, the book may seem silly or exaggerated. Of course, many kids do have these fears. It's not profound children's literature by any means, but it will probably appeal to a certain specific group of girls. The illustrations are simple and colorful, and the text is adequately edited. The book is not ideally formatted for the Kindle as you often have one or two lines of text alone on a page, but it's not difficult to flip through a short children's book even when there are minor formatting issues. The formatting could also be improved by removing the blank line between paragraphs and indenting the paragraphs instead. This would eliminate some of the orphan lines, but not all of them. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book for girls! My daughter doesn’t take ballet but boy, oh boy, she loves to dance. We are hoping to add ballet to our fall activities; however, she has a tendency of being shy. At the ripe old age of 3, I am not able to sit down and have a full blown, heart to heart conversation with her about her thoughts, feelings, and fears. However, a book like Princess Ruby’s Make-Up Ballet Class makes it easier to share an important message in a fun and playful way. What I love about this This is a great book for girls! However, a book like Princess Ruby’s Make-Up Ballet Class makes it easier to share an important message in a fun and playful way. What I love about this book is that it not only focuses on the importance of facing ones fears. It also encourages parents to identify and accept our children’s feelings. I’m happy that we met Princess Ruby and her mom, Queen Jacaranda. My daughter really enjoyed the story illustrations; however, she did lose focus at times because there are only pictures on every other page; that was the one downside of this eBook. In my opinion, a book geared towards young children to have vibrant pictures on every single page as this is the best way to hold their attention. Overall, the characters are inviting and the story has a great message. I look forward to introducing my daughter to more Deborah Bradley books in the future. I received a complimentary copy of Deborah Bradley’s eBook, Princess Ruby’s Make-Up Ballet Class, for the purpose of review. In this story Princess Ruby misses a ballet class and has to go to a make up ballet class. Princess Ruby is scared and nervous but she is brave so she goes anyways and has so much fun. I love that it comes with a free audiobook so I don't have to read it to her myself. Princess Ruby’s Make-Up Ballet Class is colorful and has fantastic graphics. Princess Ruby has found a love of the dancing and likes to share her abilities with her family especially her mother. I enjoyed this very sweet princess story. It has a meaningful message about feeling afraid and overcoming your fears. Princess Ruby learns that in the end it is worth it to conquer your fears because you may enjoy the outcome, learn new things, and gain pride in yourself. You may also find that it's not actually as scary as you think. Though it is obviously geared towards girls, the message is good for everyone. Princess Ruby's Make-up Ballet Class helps children see how to face things that they fear and try new things. Many times young children will say they don't want to do something just because it is unknown to them. This book shows Princess Ruby when she is scared and with her Mom's encouragement finds that she likes ballet class after she gives it a try. It is a great book to empower children to face things that are unknown to them. Princess Ruby's Make-up Ballet Class helps children see how to face things that they fear and try new things.
