Beautifully bold and whimsical illustrations help to tell this sweet story about Lily, a girl who travels the world with her parents. Love these quotes! "New places lead to unexpected discoveries." "Even though the world is a big place, sharing stories keeps us close." Oh, and Lily keeps a notebook! Lily is a privileged white girl, who gets to travel the world with her parents. She does keep a notebook and is wise enough to know, "even though the world is a big place, sharing stories keeps us close". Three stars was a stretch. Lately Lily, is about a girl who is all over the place traveling. For my field right now this book is a great way for kids to learn their alphabet, and its a very simple straightforward book for children to understand. It is age appropriate and a fun way for kids to explore the world. In this book the lifestyles of this book is genuine. The diversity of how she travels is what makes the plot very interesting. I love Lily's positive attitude about traveling and how much she loves it. I hope this Lately Lily, is about a girl who is all over the place traveling. Lily is a lucky little girl who travels the world with her parents while they work. She sees so many things and makes so many friends. How neat would it be to travel around the world with mom and dad? Totally neat!

Lily travels with her stuffy, Zeborah. She follows along with her parents and goes all over the world to see new places and meet new friends. The best part of travel is coming home. 2018 storytime theme: travel Reviewed from a library copy.

Lately Lily “ I like that it tells about places all around the world! I like the pictures, too.” Quote from my 6 year old granddaughter.

Cute and colorful, my preschooler says she "LOVES Lately Lily." Vintage style illustrations, bold strokes and cheerful destinations certainly make me want to travel like Lily. My dad was an airplane mechanic and growing up I had the great fortune of having free airfare and getting an inside look at airports and planes. I remember hanging out on the tarmac as a giant wing hovered over me and my dad tinkered with whatever he had to fix. I remember sitting in the ejector seat of the cockpit and playing stewardess on empty planes. I remember flying from New York to Cleveland for one day to see an exhibit on John Lennon at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I remember sitting in the ejector seat of the cockpit and playing stewardess on empty planes. I remember flying from New York to Cleveland for one day to see an exhibit on John Lennon at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was all well before 9/11 of course. And even now as an adult, my dad now gone 10 years, I have an ingrained love of airplanes and travel. While I was not a constant jet setter, I could relate to the character of Lily. I was excited to read about a girl that was not into princesses or pink or ponies or cupcakes or purple or sparkles or glitter or unicorns or fairytales, but instead was interested in something refreshingly different. I loved being taken on her adventures. Even more so, I absolutely loved these retro Golden Book-inspired illustrations. Seriously. Interesting that Lily is flying in a plane on the cover, because it reminded me so much of the cover of this classic, how could it not have been an influence?

I’m still trying to figure out why she calls herself “Lately” Lily, apparently there is a line of Lately Lily products. I wonder if this book is a result of the products? The subtitle sums up the story, but it is not much of a storyline, rather its outlines some of her travels. Lily gives the reader an upbeat image of world travel, pointing out the major perks, but none of the downside, such as lost luggage, cancelled flights, or jet lag. Lily gives the reader an upbeat image of world travel, pointing out the major perks, but none of the downside, such as lost luggage, cancelled flights, or jet lag. Thick pages with mostly double-page spreads hold the action - the plane taking off, Lily holding her parents’ hands as they take long strides to make their flight, or an Asian street view. All the girls shown are about the same age, and have the same huge eyes. Important words are in black capital letters, such as explore and possibilities. I like the variety of travel bags on the end papers, and I especially like that Lily writes down “EVERYTHING” in her notebook, and “sharing stories” with her new friends she meets in her travels keeps them close. Throughout her travels, though, her best friend remains Zeborah - a zebra!

With her stuffed animal companion always by her side, Lily travels all around the world with her parents. She soaks up the adventures and makes sure to try different foods and record her thoughts. After all, eventually it will be time to return home and reminisce about all the places she's visited. I like how the book puts such a positive spin on traveling and going new places although I also think Lily is unusual in enjoying so much newness. This book was cute, but about halfway through seemed to become a bit disjointed. Lily makes no mention of making new friends, but suddenly she is playing with them when they're together, and writing to them when they're not. Kids may not notice or mind, but it jumped out at me. The illustrations are bright and fun, and readers will enjoy picking out the details. It appears this book is linked to a line of Lately Lily products. This title doesn't make any sense to me. Why "Lately" Lily? What does that mean in the context of this story about a girl that sees a lot of places because her parents tend to travel a lot? I like the fact that this book has my daughter's name in the title. I don't like that there is not plot. This title doesn't make any sense to me. Why "Lately" Lily? This is a great story for children who often travel or who want to do so - the world is full of possibilities and this book opens the door to be able to find them . It is very short, but that could provide for opportunities to discuss the action in the book. The pictures are fabulous and make me want to board a plane for somewhere amazing.

Lily's parents travel all over the world for work, so she gets to travel too. She shares her tips of how to enjoy new places and keep old friends. A simple book about how to be a cheerful explorer of new places. I wish it were a little longer, but it is still good. Will likely especially appeal to our international school students who travel a lot and have many friends in various countries.
