Lord Griffin Westcott, English earl and advisor to Edward I, finds himself in the unenviable position of delivering a message to Andrew de Moray, one of the leaders of the Scottish rebellion under William Wallace. What makes the position especially unenviable is that Griffin, while he is secretly working with the Scots, well, that’s a secret, and at the moment he’s standing in a room packed with half-drunk, very angry Scots who think he’s Longshanks’ toady. He’s using all his diplomatic skills t Lord Griffin Westcott, English earl and advisor to Edward I, finds himself in the unenviable position of delivering a message to Andrew de Moray, one of the leaders of the Scottish rebellion under William Wallace. What makes the position especially unenviable is that Griffin, while he is secretly working with the Scots, well, that’s a secret, and at the moment he’s standing in a room packed with half-drunk, very angry Scots who think he’s Longshanks’ toady. He’s using all his diplomatic skills to keep it cool, even tho the missive he has to deliver is itself incendiary. Lady Rois (I am not entirely sure how one pronounces this name—should it rhyme with Joyce or Lois? I ended up thinking Joyce, cuz “Lois” sounded sort of like a ham actor doing a bad Asian accent) Drummond is the daughter of the Earl of Brom. Lord Brom is a Scot who not long ago swore fealty to Edward, but who now sits in this room with the rebels. Rois worries that if Griffin sees her father here, he’ll surely inform King Edward. Her da would lose his lands, his title and most likely his life. Desperate to keep the Sassenach from noticing her father, Rois decides to create a distraction—she rushes up to him and very publicly accuses him of trifling with her and leaving her pregnant. With tension spinning out of control, Griffin has only a second to defuse the situation, so he offers marriage. Surely this dimwit—whom he’s never seen before—will admit she’s lying, rather than actually marry a hated Englishman. Rois realizes she's caught in her own trap, but she’s not one to back down, so she accepts his proposal. And in Scotland, that’s all it takes. They’re married. Both of them reckon that her da will sort it all out and get them an annulment. But Lord Brom has other ideas. He knows Griff and trusts him—and he doesn’t trust Lochlan as far as he can throw the man. AND he’s about to go to war with Wallace against the vastly superior English forces. He'd like to see his daughter protected if it comes to it. So married they are and married they’ll stay. Griff can’t really fight on either side in the upcoming war without either going against the cause he cherishes or “outing” himself as a traitor when he’s much more useful as a spy, so he agrees to keep Rois safe. While William’s forces head off to ambush the Sassenachs at Stirling Bridge, he takes her away from it all. He still reckons that once the battle’s over, Lord Brom will get them that annulment, at least so long as Rois is still a virgin. Treachery, politics, magic rocks, fairy grandmothers, and oh, yeah, unreleased sexual tension is what drives the story for the rest of the book. This one isn’t quite as compelling as I remember the first books in the series being, but it’s a decent read. While Cosby weaves the story around historical events and figures, I’m not sure the culture of the day was quite right (for example, if this gal told a roomful of Scottish nobles she was seduced and pregnant, why on earth would either she or Griffin think Lord Brom would annul the handfast?). On the other hand, Cosby did come up with a reasonable explanation why history records that deMoray was killed at Stirling Bridge, and yet also indicates he was alive after. And, while the battle itself takes place offstage (darnit) Beverley does get across the reason that battle went pear-shaped for the English. Hugh de Cressingham, a historically vile English toady who was brutal to the Scots and who appears as a villain in the previous book, died at Stirling Bridge. Indeed, the defeat of the superior English forces is attributed in large part to his lousy strategic advice. Perhaps because it shows a side of William Wallace that was vicious and creepy, we don’t get the whole story. I’ll give this 3.5 stars.

Passion flares, tensions rise and the freedom and life of all they hold dear hang in the balance. This is a suspense filled romantic story, His Seduction will keep you glued to the pages. The romantic tension is thick enough to cut with a knife while the love connection is a slow building and well developed relationship. The characters are genuine creating a special reader- character bond. I especially enjoyed the reappearance of past MacGruders series characters and how they were blended into this story line. With just a touch of paranormal, His Seduction was a wonderfully enchanting read. I received this ARC review of His Seduction from eKensington in exchange for a honest review. Hmmmm and the plot thickens when Rois sticks her her lie and ends up Griffin's wife. Rois goes into the marriage believing the worst about her new English husband, but soon realizes that her preconceptions were wrong. Sir Griffin not only is an honorable man, but he may just be the love of her life. Shame that it is that Rois simply can't tell the truth to her husband, but Griffin has secrets of his own. The politics of the time lead to a story filled with suspense, the romance is is passionate and real. Rois comes off as impetuous and immature at first but evolves into a confident and honorable heroine. Griffin is the dream hero from the first page. He of course has his issues, but her always treats his woman with respect and understanding, even when he know she isn't forthcoming with him. His Seduction is the 5th book in the epic MacGruder series. With each and every story Diana Cosby just keeps getting better and better. Her characters come alive with her story-telling and the reader becomes attached to each and every one. I highly recommend His Seduction as well as any other book in the MacGruder series. ~KIMBERLY~ 4 Stars (Brilliant)

A lovely romance with two people caught in the middle of a battle between countries. His Seduction was a wonderful highland romance. Great read! So, I ended up liking her character. Griffin was also a great character. He was a perfect hero. Clever, determined, sweet, and always conscious of what was right. I really liked him. The romance was well done. I appreciated that it developed realistically, beginning with Rois trusting Griffin despite her perception of him as an enemy. They definitely had some sparks flying and they were hot. I thought they were a lovely couple. The plot moved quickly. I was hooked the entire way through. There was a surprise betrayal at the end that I never saw coming. And the ending was perfect. His Seduction was a lovely read. Yet I didn't see it, she acted on impulse, made lots of mistakes, put them in danger and trouble many times. I found myself judging her. And I got tired of reading about her green eyes the color of Scotland's fields. And I kinda don't like it when the two main characters are pushed into each other by other forces, natural or supernatural. It's so much stronger when in the end it's their own feelings and decisions that keep them together, even if they made mistakes before they realize it. Overall, interesting historical read, but the heroine was not portrayed well enough for me to enjoy it more. This review is for a free copy courtesy of Kensington Books via NetGalley

It was a great story, but not very descriptive... some things were described more than others, but I felt like in the character description besides a brief description it fell a little short. The storyline itself was good, and I enjoyed it. It was well worth the read.

(I've heard that sometimes the characters just take the bit in their teeth and run. I think that may have happened here.) This book has a very convoluted plot, with relatively complicated characters. I highly recommend reading the books that come before it first, as that will help explain what is going on more completely. I especially like the closure at the end of this book. I would like history to have gone differently, so that these characters and their families could just live happily ever after forever.

Another good twist to make the story believable and romantic. I wish the boo was longer. Seems the first three books in the series had greater detail to the adventure & dangerous plots. But, maybe I'm just devouring these books too quickly myself :) Looking forward to the next installment. Another good twist to make the story believable and romantic. I wish the boo was longer. This book was just as great as the first 4 books in the series!! All of the books have been entertaining, surprising & nearly impossible to put down!!! I 100% recommend you read this book...& the other 4 books in this series!! They can be read as standalone but I think it'd be best read in order!! I really like this series. And, I was anticipating the "Wulffe's" story for sometime. It did not disappoint! I really like this series. And, I was anticipating the "Wulffe's" story for sometime. It did not disappoint!

Too much politics and fighting to really get into right now. Although I did get interested with the handfasting.
