These stories would never grow old. At least, until I'm alive (which is a long time from now ;D). I just love to dive into these wonderful stories about nature. This is a delightful book. There are varied stories which reflect his love for nature. Through this book Ruskin Bond wants to say that there are beautiful relationships in this world. The one you have with nature, the one whom you have with your grandparents, pets your house etc. The first few stories start with friendships between the kids- village school kid’s life. Later on, few ghosts come into the picture, few friendly and few naughty but never was scary like those in the Hollywood’s horror This is a delightful book. I know I would love to. Perhaps you would consider the same. Read this book and slip away to your childhood memories and those unknown Mussoorie plains.

I have always enjoyed a Ruskin Bond story whenever I came across one as a child. But that had been a long time back. I started listening to the Audible version of this book only coz I didn't have anything else in my library and I had earlier downloaded it as a free book. But I'm glad I did so. It took me far away from the stressful world of my usual reads. For those 4 hours I was right back to childhood days and the stories brought a smile to my face. I bought this book for my kid but she is too young to read this so I started reading it and amazingly I am finding it very relaxing and soothing. The description of the weather, surroundings with all the mist in the air, snow on the leaves and deodar trees, I instantly feel like at Mussorie. Perhaps some day I will be fornunate enough to visit and see the serene beauty which the great author has presented so beautifully.

I downloaded this on Audible for free and decided to give it a try ( even though I don't have any juniors in my house ). To tell the truth, i could not put it down once I started. The stories are simple yet descriptive to the extent that you start imagining them. After reading the last chapter you get to that this is sort of a memoir by Ruskin in the form of short stories. That certainly added a charm to this book. Highly recommend it. I downloaded this on Audible for free and decided to give it a try ( even though I don't have any juniors in my house ). This book is a beautiful one! As always Ruskin Bond managed to get wonderful stories in the book. The stories are about various people, some places he goes to and a lot more. I read it a long age but it still manages to create memories whenever I think of it again. You should read it if you like short stories. The beauty with which Bond narrates the simple lives in the hills enthralls the child in you. while reading these stories to my daughter, I enjoy the feeling of being in the hills, enjoying the wild, untamed beauty of Garhwal and the smile every story in the book leaves you with. My personal favorites were Tiger My Friend and The School Among the Pines. Must read for every 8 year old.
