He made a mental note that he needed to give his truck a wash and wax. Seconds later, he was on his way, headed home." Is this the new thing? Have someone need a hospital but skip the hospital scene? It's driving me crazy. That's my favorite part and I'm constantly being let down. (view spoiler)[TWICE! I was robbed twice in one book!! (hide spoiler)] Someone please recommend me books with emotional hospital scenes. I'm eager for the next one in the series. I didn't realize this was a series and was upset that the potential for that couple never surfaced but I'm glad to see they have their own book. Good action and peril. 4.5 rounded down because of the lack of hospital scenes which cut out a lot of the drama.

Re Read had to drop a star. New cover is clearly better. However, the story is lacking plot, as well as chemistry.

I really enjoyed this one. I loved Evan and Ian's chemistry. They just fit and were so sweet together. I guessed pretty fast who the killer was and some other things but that's only because I'm one of those whether it's a movie or book I have to guess who it is, lol. Don't watch a movie with me I will drive you crazy, lol I really enjoyed this one. I loved Evan and Ian's chemistry. They just fit and were so sweet together. This short story was enjoyable. The writing style was clean and pulling. I liked the main dialogues between Evan, Gio and Brooks. I hope we will get a story about Hunter and Brooks, too. They would be an interesting couple.

It's clear from the very beginning that Ian Walsh of 'Wicked Intentions' by Talia Carmichael, regardless of what he tries to tell himself, has wicked intentions toward Evan Murray. They meet under unusual circumstances, in the line of duty for Ian, a police detective investigating an attempt on Evan's life. Both men feel the pull and it's only a matter of time until these two seemingly different men ignite the spark between them. Then, more than ever, Ian feels the urge to protect the man who has become very dear to him. The thing is, how is he going to do that when Evan seems almost oblivious to the inherent danger of the situation? Ian is definitely a man who is used to being in charge. His defenses are quickly broken down by Evan's charm. I liked they fact that they didn't just fall into bed right away, but took the time to become friends first. I liked it that Ian thought things like this: “Evan was funny, sweet, and smart. All the things he liked in a man.” rather than focusing on the physical: of course when they did get between the sheets, the attraction was hotter than ever. Ian and Evan find that they have a lot to share and can benefit from each other's experiences. Ian is able to help Evan with details for his stories, such as how to make a car crash more realistic by adding smells, sights, and sounds. Evan does frustrate Ian by not taking the threat to his life seriously, especially when Ian keeps warning Evan to be more careful and Evan responds like this: “Maybe they’re just waiting for us to stop protecting you. Since we aren’t any more, you need to be careful.” “I’ve been careful. I am tired of being careful,” Evan stated. Evan is a real surprise. He's smart, witty, charming, handsome, loving, and, most amazingly, is well trained in the arts of self defense by his brother, Gio and his friend, Brooks, both of whom were special forces in the army. Their relationship is closer than many brothers shown in a mixture of playfulness, protectiveness, irritation, but lots of love. Gio's determination to ready Evan for any emergency borders on obsession. One of the biggest surprises for Ian is that Evan really can handle himself in perilous situations, but he's careless because he can't seem to comprehend the fact that anyone would want to hurt him. Evan's training ends up being an important element in solving his case and giving them all a different perspective of the situation. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It starts off with a bang and leads us through what happens in a smooth, direct manner while adding delicious, unexpected twists. It goes off in different directions, but is all tied together very nicely at the end. The suspense, action, intrigue, and hot men, with just the right amount of sexual spice, make this an exciting, satisfying read. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes mystery, adventure, passionate sexual encounters, and a happy ending. Talia, I commend you on a story well told. Thanks very much! Executive Summary: Contrived and boring. This story annoyed from the beginning. A slow start for something that only has 65 pages, with too much exposition. Everyone close to Evan behaves as if he has just lost his husband, even though it has been two years. We then learn that Evan Murray has a brother named Giovanne. WTF? Who names their kids Evan and Giovanne? Are they half brothers? Was there a standoff on naming the children between an Irish dad and Italian mother? Who names their kids Evan and Giovanne? Are they half brothers? Was there a standoff on naming the children between an Irish dad and Italian mother? There has to be a story in there, but if there is, it is ignored. Luckily Evan's love interest has a nice Irish name, Ian. Ian is a detective who investigates the attempt on Evan's life. He doesn't behave at all like a detective, telling Evan to call him by his first name, when he introduces himself. We are told they are attracted to each other, which is a good thing, because otherwise I would never have known. There is this weird non-nonsensical bit in which Ian's partner accuses Evan's brother of being the shooter. The only thing I could think of what that he was weirded out by his Italian name and assumed a Mafia connection. We next see Evan, a murder mystery writer, working on his book when he receives a call from Ian. Ian reminds Evan to call him by his first name and not detective. You would think Ian would be calling about the attempt on Evan's life but instead we are told that they spend an hour in which Evan bounces plot ideas off of Ian. Apparently Ian is really interested in Evan, but not terrible concerned about his life. Eventually the author notes that Ian had some questions for him, but they aren't important enough to share with the reader. We then return to random sentences from Ian and Evan's conversation about Evan's book. It must be love. After the conversation we are treated to a scene in which Evan jack's off to thoughts of his deceased husband but they are driven out by thoughts of Ian. Yep, defiantly love. I don't care how short this thing is. I simply couldn't read anymore.

A fun, quick, steamy read--both a romance and a mystery. The story was fairly predictable but that did not diminish my enjoyment. Likeable MCs and equally likeable secondary characters who, I assume/hope, will be MCs in subsequent books. This is a great rainy afternoon read. Tomorrow looks equally dreary, and I have book 2 ready to go. Can't wait! A fun, quick, steamy read--both a romance and a mystery.
