Cally is our beauty and a demon is our beast in this retelling of an old fairy tale. If you're tired of the everyday monotonous romances with the same cookie cutter feel too them try this one. Good fantasy read based on a demon version of the Beauty and the Beast tale. Coombes is great at character development, but weaker on world-building. The interactions between Calli and Briggs were totally engrossing anytime they were on the page together, which was a lot. The action sequences were also full of excitement. I actually enjoyed this book a lot and would read more by the author.

I found this book to be a surprisingly pleasant read. The story was good, the secondary characters and the banter between all the characters was very good. What spoilt this book imo & prevented it from becoming an excellent book, there was no background information into this new world that KC created, which seems like a rather intriguing place. We where not given any information to help form where this world is, how beings came to be there. We where not given any information to help form where this world is, how beings came to be there. The main pull to this book was the curse put on the hero but again no information was given as to why he was cursed. I could not seem to relate to the hero as I was not given any information on him to make me feel anything for him. The heroine Cally........wow what a waste of page space!!!!! Too Stupid Too Live does not even begin to cover how annoying and irritating I found Cally to be. Towards the end of the book she really did try to redeem herself but no such luck. She was a spineless, brainless, whimp who cried all the time. She was just too frustrating to connect with, just when you though she would stand up for herself or do something redeeming, she cries, backs down and reverts to her true form - spineless. Also I wanted to know who her father was and how her mother met him - you know all that background info - again that was missing, so it was hard feeling anything for her. How Brigg could fall in love with her was beyond me as there was no substance to her. So what would make me read this author again, I think the story line was good and the world that is being created here is worth another look. Also Sam and Torc are interesting characters and I would like to read more about them, KC has me intrigued as to what happened between Sam and his lady love also the sex scene in this book was good.

Beauty and the Beast At first glance I presumed this would be a retelling of Beauty and the Beast but am very glad I read on anyways. It was a very lovely romantic read.

Fun retelling of one of my favorite fairy tales. I like that the Beast is a Demon, also the chemistry between him and Cally is really good.

It's been awhile but I absolutely loved this book! I lived in it from beginning to end! I should've bought a paperback copy while I had the chance! Will forever be one of my favorite books! Flawed characters, Beautiful Story - Beauty and the Beast: Demon Tales by Kerrianne Coombes When I started reading Beauty and the Beast: Demon Tales, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I didn't know how Ms Coombes would develop a new take on a romantic fairy tale. But the more I read, the more I was drawn into the story of Cally and Brigg. I didn't know how Ms Coombes would develop a new take on a romantic fairy tale. But the more I read, the more I was drawn into the story of Cally and Brigg. The more I realized that although the framework of Beauty and the Beast was there all the way to how Brigg finally shed his beastly form, the new take was the introduction of the evil queen, Brigg's brother, Torc, and Sam, and a young woman who Ms Coombes uses to foreshadow the next book in the Demon Tales series. Ms Coombes has also brought home one point. We sometimes tend to look at a person's physical attributes and think that the beauty reflected outside is beauty within. And while this may be true, those who may be physically flawed oftentimes have the most beauty and strength. Take Brigg and Cally for example. Brigg wants the curse removed so that he and Torc can look human. He perceives himself to be ugly, until Cally comes along and turns his world upside down. Cally on the other hand, looks human. But only because she is made to hide her true self. Cally sees in Brigg the man she belongs to despite him looking like a beast. Brigg is drawn to Cally and it is her love that finally allows him to accept who he really is. I'm reading another of Ms Coombe's novels: Cinderella: Demon Tale. And like Beauty and the Beast, I am drawn into the world Ms Coombes has created.

Beauty and the Beast is for people who... ...like their heroes surly. ...don't mind uneven characterization. ...aren't bothered by passive heroines... ...who eventually find their voice. Honestly, I don't know what to think about this one. I liked the idea of a demon Beast, but Cally's characterization felt all over the place. With everything her mother had subjected her to, you'd think she'd be a little more hardy when it came to being held prisoner. Instead she just felt kind of whiny and passive. I felt it was sloppily put together. It felt like there should be more to the story than what there was. This storyline could have easily been a regular page book and I'm not sure why it stopped at 145. There should have been more explanation behind the chars like what is a Rain Demon and why they were cursed in the first place. As I said, I wanted more but was very disappointed that there wasn't. Here's hoping the next one will be better. I felt it was sloppily put together. It felt like there should be more to the story than what there was. It's a very unique and different take of the traditional story. I really enjoyed the twists that were in this interpretation of the story. Although it was quite different, there were still aspects of the original story, very clever and interesting. It's a very unique and different take of the traditional story. A demon fairy tale This was a clever take on an old fairy tale...from a demon's perspective. It is a fast read but enjoyable all the same. A demon fairy tale This was a clever take on an old fairy tale...from a demon's perspective. It is a fast read but enjoyable all the same.
