This was the best book I ever read Because it has a lot of tips on how to be a better friend in life. Anyway, It's about a kid named Eric who has a friend named Sarah Byrnes who has scars on her face and they learn to get through problems they both have. Will they survive? The first 7 chapters were pretty boring for me, but after that, it picked up and had me reading this book whenever I had free time. Suspenseful.

I thought the story was really unique about the guy eating more to stay friends with the girl. You don't see that kind of loyalty with a lot of relationships. I thought it was a hard edge story, but true to life how Sarah tried to cover up the abuse she had suffered, but eventually the truth came out. That is so true to life with victims The language in the book seemed strong and graphic sometimes, I think the author did this to make the story seem more true to life even though it is a fiction s I thought the story was really unique about the guy eating more to stay friends with the girl. I liked that Sarah really did have friends and people that cared about her in the book, especially enough to risk hiding her from her abuser. So often in real life people become alienated and withdrawn and do not get help. So this part of the book made me feel better for Sarah. I wish the book had some lighter themes in it, but at least Sarah's friend was able to get involved in the sport of swimming. The book made me think a lot about Sarah and her Dad, and about Sarah's feelings living the way she did from day to day.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I rated this book four stars because I liked the book a lot. I thought the book was pretty well put together and I thought it had a good story line. It also gave a since of real characters and real situations. The strengths of this book were the plot and the characters. The situations were real, like how Sarah was abused and her mother ran away. Situations like that happen every day. Some weaknesses of this book is it can be sort of slow in the beginning but other than that it was a great book. I I rated this book four stars because I liked the book a lot.
