Still Crazy After All These Years I read and very much enjoyed the first two books in this series, but then sort of drifted away from the later books. This book is number 12, with the series planned to end at 13. I was curious to see if Master Donbavand had kept up to the high level of the first books throughout the series, and am happy to report that, at least for me, the books remain fresh, funny and entertaining. It seems to me that in order to get settled in the Scream Street world you probably have to have read the very first book. It sets up the entire premise, introduces the three heroes, and establishes the setting and most of the important supporting characters. But after that I think you can read the books out of order and with some gaps. I got right back into the swim even this far into the series. That's probably because Donbavand does a marvelously good job in each book of bringing the reader up to speed, early on, on what has transpired in the earlier books. It helps that while there is an overarching story that binds all of the books in the series, each book is also devoted to a single main story that begins and is resolved in that book. Here, for example, we have the kids' larger problem of undoing the door they opened to the normal world, which involves returning the founders' relics. But the main story revolves around their quest to return a changeling to the fairy realm and rescue the human child who was taken in its stead. NO PLOT SPOILERS, but the plot gets tricky and twisty before we reach a happy and satisfying resolution. As to the larger arc, well we end up with quite a cliffhanger there. So, if you have followed the series thus far, be forewarned that you'll have to get the next volume in order to learn how everything pans out. And remember, as always, each book offers a wide range of humor - sly, deadpan, obvious, subtle, slapstick, silly or wry - for a wide range of readers. There's something amusing here for the youngest kids all the way up to Mom and Dad, which makes this a great series for a reader or for a family of readers to grow up with. So, enjoy this volume and try not to think about the series ending that's just around the corner. (Please note that I received a free advance ecopy of this book in exchange for a candid review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)

This is my favourite scream street so far!! The obvious link to all of the fairytales (or should I say scarytales!) was awesome, but it was more closely linked to Narnia i.e.: a srange new world twisted by an evil tyrant, a hero who crosses over to the bad side because he believes he is doing good, plus a white witch (well... crimson queen) with a great scream street twist (wolves and blood suckers that is)!!! I loved it!!! It had everything: ninja dwarves, werewolves (yay!!), manipulation, gian This is my favourite scream street so far!! I loved it!!! It had everything: ninja dwarves, werewolves (yay!!), manipulation, giant fairies with tatooes, and sparkly fairy snot :D(LOL). I can totally relate to Resus too... he wants to be a vampire - I want to be a werewolf (although if he really did, he'd just get another resident [probably one of his parents] to nibble his neck). The cliffhanger was lethal though! I just thought: NOOOOO! you can't do this to me!! I need to know!! Although I think that I know what's gonna happen next: (view spoiler)[ they used the song by vein and his crew to escape from the underlands last time in a puff of smoke (literally) which conventiently deposited them back in the middle of scream street :D. (hide spoiler)] We'll have to see whether I'm right or not XD. Can't wait for the next one!

I really like this book. It is a little bit scary, but in a good way. There are a few characters that are creepy like vampires and a mummy. One very interesting character is named “Skinderella”, whose name reminds me of “Cinderella”. They are actually opposite personalities, though. Skinderella is really mean and has daggers and actually throws her glass slippers at the other characters! The author did a good job of describing events so I could visualize them. One thing described very well was when the character ducked under a bridge to hide from Skinderlla. This is the second to last book in the series, but it is the first one that I read. I was a little confused during the first and second chapters because I joined the series midway, but then I caught on quickly. I feel like the characters were re-introduced very well. I think this book would be good for 2nd grade through 4th grade boys and girls and would be a good book-club group because the story had a lot of actions that were hard to predict. I can easily see this becoming an instant draw by word of mouth amongst the children in any library. I would recommend this book (series) for purchase by any school or public library looking for high interest, popular series books. I would recommend this book for purchase.
